Does Jon Rahm offer overlay or underlay odds?

Without a doubt, Rahm is the most high-profile golfer teeing off at the Fortinet. But although Rahm should go off the chalk, the odds make him an underlay.

Don’t get us wrong, Jon is hitting the ball well. He finished second at the Tour Championship, third at The Open Championship, eighth at the PGA Championship, and won the U.S. Open.

Last season, he also made the cut in 22-of-22 tournaments played. So there’s a reason to believe he wins on Sunday. But there’s a much bigger reason to believe Rahm finishes in the top 5 without taking home the trophy. Jon Rahm won a single tournament last year. Sure, it was a major, but it was still one tournament victory. At +375, Jon Rahm is a play against.

Which golfer among Simpson, Matsuyama, Na, and Zalatoris have the best shot of winning the Fortinet Championship?

Kevin Na is in the best form. But Na tends to follow up terrific performances with mid-teens or early twenties finishes. Na finished third at the Tour Championship, which means he should finish around twentieth or so on Sunday.

Webb Simpson didn’t play in the Tour Championship. He also didn’t win a tournament last year. It’s hard to know what kind of form Webb will bring to the course.

Will Zalatoris has a shot. The 6’ 2” twenty-five year old made 22-of-25 cuts last season. He could show his best after stepping off the course for a short rest, four-week, rest. Zalatoris could surprise, but the +2000 player to really consider backing is Hideki Matsuyama.

The 2021 Masters winner doesn’t always bring hot sticks to a tournament. But this is the type of event where Matsuyama can excel. Also, Hideki finished twenty-sixth at the Tour Championship. That’s a sign he’s rounding into his top form.

Name the top choice for golfers offering odds from +3500 to +4500 who can win the tournament?

Harold Varner III and Si Woo Kim should play well. Si Woo shot a 65 second round and 66 fourth round at last year’s Fortinet Championship. If Kim hadn’t shot a ridiculous 77 round three, he may have finished in the top 10 or even top 5. Harold Varner III shot a 67 round 1 and a 66 round four. He finished tied for twenty-ninth. V-III can pick it up enough to win this. He played in last year’s tournament. Rahm, Matsuyama and Zalatoris didn’t.

Which golfers at +5000 or higher odds can pull off a Fortinet Championship upset victory?

A couple of +5000 choices offer overlay odds. Both Chez Reavie and Emiliano Grillo should offer odds closer to +4000 to win the Fortinet Championship. Last year, Reavie finished tied for third, just 3 strokes off winner Stewart Cink. Reavie, like most golfers, usually performs well on the same courses year-to-year.

Grillo finished tied for twenty-ninth. But although Grillo wasn’t in the top 10, he shot three straight rounds under 70. The 73 fourth round ended Grillo’s chances of a better finish. Both Reavie and Grillo are worth a look. They’ve got experience over the course and offer overlay odds.
