2021 F1 Mexican GP Recap

This year’s chalk to win the 2022 Mexican Grand Prix took top honors at the 2021 race. Max Verstappen started third on the grid and moved his way up to first.

Lewis Hamilton finished in second followed by Verstappen teammate Sergio Perez in third. Pierre Gasly finished fourth.

The two Ferrari drivers took fifth and sixth. Charles Leclerc finished fifth and Carlos Sainz finished sixth. Sebastian Vettel drove great to finish seventh.

2022 Mexican Grand Prix Picks

Top Pick to Win the 2022 Mexican Grand Prix

Right now, Max Verstappen is unbeatable. But there are three events left, which means Mercedes has just three more chances to grab a checkered flag. Hamilton finished second in this last season.

Lewis Hamilton also finished second at the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas last Sunday. Hamilton is on the cusp of crossing the finish line first. It helps that the odds on Lewis make him an overlay.

Second Pick to Win the 2022 Mexican Grand Prix

The odds on Max Verstappen don’t make him an overlay. But they are fair. Max has won seven of the last eight events. He’s won two straight and it’s apparent that neither he nor Red Bull is going to let up.

If Verstappen can win out, or if Perez wins, Red Bull will have won 18 of the 23 races. That’s something to be proud of for sure. So if you like Verstappen and don’t mind betting chalk, go for it.

Third Pick to Win the 2022 Mexican Grand Prix

Charles Leclerc’s third place finish at the U.S. Grand Prix sets him up well for this. The fifth place at the 2021 Mexican Grand Prix isn’t bad. The problem is that Leclerc’s opening odds make him unplayable.

It makes no sense to back Leclerc at +450 over Hamilton at +1200 if you’re looking to upset Verstappen. Charles odds of winning the Mexican GP are much worse than 4.5 to 1.

Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2022 Mexican Grand Prix

Russell’s fifth place finish at the U.S. Grand Prix should give underdog backers confidence. George is driving well enough and his car is fast enough to take home the trophy for Mercedes.

The key will be where Russell starts on the grid. If he starts in a good position, and Verstappen doesn’t have it on Sunday, George might battle Hamilton in the final few laps for the checkered flag.
