UFC 287 Main Card Preview
Raul Rosas Jr. vs. Christian Rodriguez
Underdog Christian Rodriguez has a decent 8-1 record. Not only that, but Rodriguez heads into this with a 4.5 inches reach advantage.
Rosas Jr. is 2 inches taller. The favorite is also undefeated at 7-0. Raul appears to have a significant advantage if this goes to the ground. This will be a terrific fight. At the end, though, Rosas’ more advanced grappling skills forces Rodriguez to tap out.
UFC 287 Pick: Raul Rosas Jr.
Kevin Holland vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio
Holland versus Ponzinibbio should be one of Saturday night’s most entertaining bouts. Both are terrific mixed martial artists.
Holland is the chalk because Ponzinibbio shows just 2 wins in his last 5 bouts. 3 of Santiago’s 6 losses have come in his last 5 fights.
Kevin isn’t in great form, though. Holland has dropped his last 2 fights, a submission loss to Khamzat Chimaev and a fourth-round kockout loss to Stephen Thompson. Ponzinibbio won his last bout. The underdog is the pick to make it 2 straight.
UFC 287 Pick: Santiago Ponzinibbio
Rob Font vs. Adrian Yanez
Rob Font has physical advantages over favored Adrian Yanez. Font is taller by an inch. Rob also has a 1.5 inches reach advantage.
But Yanez is on a 9-fight winning streak. Adrian’s last loss happened in 2018. Not only that, but Yanez is also 10-0 via knockout or technical knockout victories and 2-0 via submission wins. The chalk takes this.
UFC 287 Pick: Adrian Yanez
Gilbert Burns vs. Jorge Masvidal
At one point, Burns versus Masvidal would have been a main event. But Masvidal isn’t in good form. The underdog in this has lost 3 straight. 2 losses came against Kamara Usman. The other was agianst Colby Covington.
Burns has won 3-of-5. Burns’ 2 losses were against Usman in a 2021 title fight and versus 12-0 Khamzat Chimaev in 2022 via unanimous decision. The favorite should get it done.
UFC 287 Pick: Gilbert Burns
Alex Pereira vs. Israel Adesanya // UFC Middleweight Title
Most believe Adesanya regains his belt. But before dumping on Pereira, it’s important to note that Pereira knocked out the former champ in the first fight.
Not only that, but since a loss in his first MMA bout, Pereira is undefeated. Also, the champ is going to show up in this bout weighing around 215 to 220.
Pereira is the much bigger and stronger fighter. Still, after multiple viewings, Adesanya has the much better grappling skills. Israel will stay away from Pereira’s kickboxing strikes and get this fight to the ground. Adesanya wins the rematch.
UFC 287 Pick: Israel Adesanya
