By Carlos Chacon

A couple of relatively fresh faces have won the first two races of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season. However, the veterans on the circuit still have plenty of clout and experience as favorites to win this week’s race at Homestead. In last week’s race, Christopher Bell took the win.

Which of those drivers stand out above the rest? Read on for our preview and NASCAR odds for the 2021 Dixie Vodka 400 race below.

Who Are the Favorites to Win the 2021 Dixie Vodka 400?

Kevin Harvick

  • 2021 Dixie Vodka 400 Odds: +450

It’s only a matter of time before Kevin Harvick secures his first victory in the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series, and that could very well be this weekend at Homestead.

Harvick had superb finishes of fourth place at the Daytona 500 and sixth place at last week’s Daytona Road Course. The 45-year-old dominated the previous regular season with nine wins, which is the most by any driver since 2008. That being said, it’s hard to go against a driver such as Harvick, whose shadow looms heavily over the field in every given week.

Denny Hamlin

  • 2021 Dixie Vodka 400 Odds: +500

Even though Denny Hamlin was denied the rare three-peat at the Daytona 500, he still amazed in Florida these past couple of weeks as expected.

Hamlin is the only driver this season thus far to finish in the top five of the first two races. No. 11 finished fifth at the Great American Race and followed that up with an even better third-place finish in last week’s race. Hamlin was nearly on par with Harvick last season in wins, which justifies why these two Cup Series heavyweights are front-runners to win the 2021 Dixie Vodka 400.

Martin Truex Jr.

  • 2021 Dixie Vodka 400 Odds: +650

Cup Series old-timer Martin Truex Jr. is not off to a good start this year, as two finishes outside the top 10 barely qualified him to be in the top 16 of the Cup Series standings.

Nevertheless, Homestead certainly feels like home for Truex. The former Cup Series champion has one win and two runner-up finishes on the course over the past four seasons. Not only that, but he has the second-best driver rating of 107.0 and the third-best average finish of 8.5 on intermediate tracks in general since 2018.

Who Are the Sleepers to Win the 2021 Dixie Vodka 400?

Christopher Bell

  • 2021 Dixie Vodka 400 Odds: +2200

Joe Gibbs Racing prodigy Christopher Bell finally popped his Cup Series cherry this past week by winning the Daytona Road Course race and should be in high spirits in his bid for back-to-back wins this weekend.

On the other hand, there are still some reservations regarding the 26-year-old Oklahoma native’s odds of accomplishing such a feat. 2020 was Bell’s first full Cup Series season, wherein he had just six top-10 finishes and two top-5s. Nevertheless, the former Camping World Truck Series champion is still in great form and a worthy sleeper candidate to win it all at Homestead.

Tyler Reddick

  • 2021 Dixie Vodka 400 Odds: +2200

While two finishes outside the top 25 is not a good way to start the new season, Cali kid Tyler Reddick is still counting on his previous success at Homestead to deliver him his first-ever NASCAR Cup Series win; milestones that Bell and 2021 Daytona 500 champ Michael McDowell have themselves finally achieved.

Reddick finished fourth in his first and only race at Homestead last year, giving him a slight edge over the rest of the field who have yet to emerge victorious at a Cup Series race. And compared to Bell, Reddick also has one more top-10 finish (seven) and one more top-5 finish (three) from last season.

Expert’s Prediction for the Dixie Vodka 400 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Race

While a lot of veterans continue to receive recognition as favorites to win this week’s race, early results this 2021 Cup Series season have actually been in favor of the young blood. That being said, perhaps siding with dark horses such as Bell or Reddick might be the right call.
