2021 ACC Tournament NCAAB Betting Preview
It’s a down year in the ACC, as teams like the Duke Blue Devils and the North Carolina Tar Heels have reached this point of the season with their March Madness chances still up in the air. That’s also why the upcoming 2021 ACC Tournament will be extra special for those blue bloods.
With that being said, NitroBetting takes a look at some of the teams and players to watch out for in the upcoming conference tournament, along with their latest odds to win the 2021 ACC Tournament.

Which Teams Are the Favorites to Win the 2021 ACC Tournament?
Florida State Seminoles
- 2021 ACC Tournament Odds: +275
There was no ACC Tournament last year, but the Seminoles were declared as the 2020 conference champions behind the league’s best regular-season record. This time around, Leonard Hamilton’s team doesn’t want to leave any space for doubts, as he attempts to guide his boys to the top of the 2021 ACC Tournament.
Florida State is as formidable of a team as any despite the absence of a singular dominant force. They are an example of a team whose whole is better than the sum of its part. Florida State has zero players on its roster averaging more than 14.0 points per game, but the Seminoles’ offense is 15th nationally in scoring and eighth in adjusted offensive efficiency.
Virginia Cavaliers
- 2021 ACC Tournament Odds: +350
As long as Tony Bennett is the one running the Hoos’ program, it will never feel right to ignore Virginia. That’s despite the Cavaliers losing three games in a row toward the tail end of their regular-season schedule, which saw them lose to Florida State, Duke, and the NC State Wolfpack.
Virginia will always be known for its defense under Bennett, but this season, the team’s offense has taken quite a jump. The Cavaliers are allowing just 60.2 points per game, thanks in large part to them playing a hellishly slow pace (327th in adjusted tempo nationally), while on offense, they are shooting 48.0 FG% and 39.2 3FG%.
Which Sleeper Team Can Shock the Field in the 2021 ACC Tournament?
Syracuse Orange
- 2021 ACC Tournament Odds: +5000
As of the moment, Syracuse is projected to be a Next Four Out team by ESPN’s Bracketology, which means the Orange are on the outside looking in of the 68-team picture for March Madness.
Jim Boeheim’s boys will enter the ACC Tournament with significant momentum, having won back to back against the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Clemson Tigers, both at home, to close out their regular-season schedule.
Syracuse’s in-your-face defense can disrupt the flow of opponents’ plans in the tournament, as the Orange are 11th in the nation with a 10.8 steal percentage.
Who are the Players to Watch Out for in the 2021 ACC Tournament?
Carlik Jones (Louisville)
Jones is heating up just in time for the ACC Tournament. After scoring 18 points in the win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the senior guard exploded for 25 points (9-18 FG) to lead the Cardinals to a win in Durham on February 28. If the Cardinals are going to win the tourney, they need Jones to sustain that form.
Matthew Hurt
With Jalen Johnson no longer part of the Blue Devils’ program, Hurt is now the No. 1 option on Duke’s offensive pecking order. The sophomore forward needs to perform at a high level in the tourney in order for the Blue Devils to keep their March Madness hopes from flatlining, and with a potential date with Florida State in the quarterfinals, Hurts could be even more pressured to deliver the goods for his team. He’s answered the call for the most part of this season, as evidenced by his being 11th nationally in effective field goal percentage (66.7) and 15th in true shooting percentage (67.6).
2021 ACC Tournament Expert Betting Prediction
Florida State is gearing for a deep run in the 2021 March Madness, but the Noles can’t overlook the ACC Tournament, even though they are widely regarded as the best team in the conference.
As great as the Seminoles have looked this season, it shouldn’t be forgotten that they have three Quadrant 1 losses and even lost to the UCF Knights back in December.
The Seminoles are not unbeatable and a team like Virginia or North Carolina can swoop in and steal a title in Greensboro.
