New York Giants vs. Washington Football Team

  • 2021 NFL Week 2 Odds: Washington Football Team -3.5

The Giants struggled against the Denver Broncos’ defense in a home game last Sunday. There’s nothing to assume NYG’s offense picks it up versus the WFT’s terrific defense. So even though Taylor Heinicke starts at quarterback, D.C. is the play.

NFL Week 2 Pick: Washington

Sunday, Sep. 19

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins

  • 2021 NFL Week 2 Odds: Buffalo Bills -3.5

It’s easy to look past Buffalo’s 23-16 loss to Pittsburgh. But there are a couple of things about the loss that make them close to unplayable against the spread in this. First, the Bills made no adjustments at halftime. Great teams adjust and come out firing. Second, Buffalo laid the egg on their turf. Miami’s offense isn’t as good as Buffalo’s, but the Fins have the better defense. Dolphins cover.

NFL Week 2 Pick: Dolphins

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Chicago Bears

  • 2021 NFL Week 2 Odds: Chicago Bears -2.5

Joe Burrow to Ja’Marr Chase is already one of the best quarterback and wide receiver connections in the league. Burrow and Chase are on the same page big time, which could lead to another Bengals’ upset victory. The Bears have more options at quarterback, though. If Matt Nagy plays both Justin Fields and Andy Dalton, Chicago should win and cover.

NFL Week 2 Pick: Bears

Denver Broncos vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

  • 2021 NFL Week 2 Odds: Denver Broncos -6

Jacksonville showed the offense will be just fine with Trevor Lawrence under center. The top pick in the draft made some bad throws. He’ll adjust. However, the Jags’ defense is a mess. Like in week 1, the Broncos are the top cover lock in week 2.

NFL Week 2 Pick: Broncos

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

  • 2021 NFL Week 2 Odds: Pittsburgh Steelers -4.5

NFL handicappers may be reading too much into the Steelers’ victory over the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo may have been overhyped heading into the season. Also, the Bills appeared to be going through the motions. In any case, Las Vegas fought hard to beat Baltimore. The Raiders are a solid football team and this should be a defensive struggle. Points will be at a premium. So consider taking the 4.5.

NFL Week 2 Pick: Raiders

New Orleans Saints vs. Carolina Panthers

  • 2021 NFL Week 2 Odds: New Orleans Saints -1

8 Saints tested positive for the coronavirus. If they don’t test negative before the game on Sunday, they won’t travel or play, which is why the line fell from New Orleans -3.5 to Saints -1. The reason to be bullish about the Saints’ chances to cover, even if the line drifts back to 3.5, is that among the 8 positives, 6 are coaches, 1 is a nutritionist, and 1 is a player. Unless the lone player positive is for a key member, and if the Saints show no more positives heading into Sunday, New Orleans should easily win and cover. That makes the Saints, for now at least, the pick.

NFL Week 2 Pick: Saints

San Francisco 49ers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

  • 2021 NFL Week 2 Odds: San Francisco 49ers -3.5

Lots of love is going towards San Francisco after their close win against the Lions and no love is going to Philadelphia after they dominated the Atlanta Falcons. The line appears to be more hype than substance. The Eagles may have the best offensive line in the league while SF will play without starters Jason Verrett and Raheem Morris. Take the points for sure and don’t be surprised if the Eagles win this on the moneyline.

NFL Week 2 Pick: Eagles

Minnesota Vikings vs. Arizona Cardinals

  • 2021 NFL Week 2 Odds: Arizona Cardinals -4.5

Kyler Murray and the Cardinals dominated the Tennessee Titans in their first game of the season. Let’s not read more into the victory than we should, though. The Titans had no energy in that game. Minnesota fell to the Bengals. So, it makes sense why the Cards are more than 3-point favorites. The Vikings are a solid bunch, though. Here’s another where the NFL betting line appears to stem from a week 1 overreaction.

NFL Week 2 Pick: Las Vikings

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Baltimore Ravens

  • 2021 NFL Week 2 Odds: Kansas City Chiefs -3.5

It’s tough not to like the Kansas City Chiefs. Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson calls Kansas City the Ravens’ kryptonite. It’s tough to argue with Lamar because Kansas City always picks it up against Baltimore. KC covers.

NFL Week 2 Pick: Chiefs
