But although those four name golfers will attract plenty of attention, the morning line chalk to lift the trophy is Scottie Scheffler.

Is defending champion Rory McIlroy offering overlay or underlay odds?

Time to eat some crow. In last week’s PGA blog, we stated that backing any golfer to win a tournament at low odds was a bad bet. That didn’t turn out well because Jon Rahm won the Mexico Open.

But the sentiment remains. Rahm offered +450 odds, which made him an underlay. Even though he won, Jon was an underlay. Is Rory an underlay at +800? He’s not. McIlroy won this tournament last year. So he knows how to play over the TPC Potomac course.

Also, Rory hasn’t played since his second-place finish at the Masters, which means he’s concentrated on winning this tournament. The winner’s share of $9,000,000 is huge. It makes sense why Rory would spend time preparing his game for the Wells Fargo. If you like McIlroy’s chances, go for it.

Which golfers at +1800 to +2800 odds have the best chances of winning the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson?

Finau and Connors didn’t play great at the 2021 Wells Fargo. Abraham Ancer and Gary Woodland did. Ancer shot a -8, a couple of strokes off the winner. Woodland shot 3 strokes off McIlroy’s -10. When it comes to choosing between the two, Woodland might be the better play.

Gary finished twenty-fourth at the Mexico Open last week. Ancer finished forty-second. But at the odds, both are worth a look. So if you prefer Ancer over Woodland, back Abraham with confidence.

Name a golfer at odds of +3300 to +4000 that can take home the AT&T Byron Nelson trophy

Keegan Bradley didn’t tear it up at the 2021 Wells Fargo. He shot a -1, which was 9 strokes away from the winner. Bradley, though, is gearing up for a deep 2022 Wells Fargo run. He not only hasn’t teed off since finishing eighth at the Valero Texas Open, but he had a decent March.

Outside of the missed cut at the Valspar, Keegan finished eleventh at the Arnold Palmer and fifth at The Players Championship in addition to the eighth at the Valero. At his current odds, Keegan Bradley is worth a look for sure.

What two golfers at +5000 odds have the best chances of winning the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson title?

This PGA Tour season, Keith Mitchell has made 11 cuts from 15 tournaments played. In those 11 tournaments, he’s finished in the top 10 four times. Last year, Keith shot a -8, 2 strokes off Rory’s tournament-winning -10. At the odds, Keith Mitchell is a great bet to turn the tables on McIlroy.

The +5000 choice spent all of April working on his swing for this tournament. Keith Mitchell has a much better shot of winning than the 50-to-1 odds indicate. So if you’re looking to back the best overlay on the board, Mitchell is your man.
