2022 Belgian Grand Prix Sleeper Picks
Following a two-week summer break and a chance to charge up before the final half of the season, Formula 1 gets back on track with this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix. A year ago, the event was dimmed by pouring rain across qualifying and race day. The race was abandoned after two laps behind the safety car. This played to the advantage of George Russell, who qualified second in a lackluster Williams. With unpredictable weather and results from left field in 2021, it’s worth taking a look at the top 2022 Belgian Grand Prix sleeper picks, which Nitrobetting covers below.

Fernando Alonso
- 2022 Belgian Grand Prix Odds: +17500
Alpine provided the veteran driver with a competitive car this year. However, as of late, the relationship between the Spaniard and the French manufacturer looks more disputable than ever. Despite that, with nine races left, we expect the two-time World Champion to go full throttle before heading out to Silverstone, England.
Alonso is yet to record a victory at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. But, since the track has seen four different winners in the last five years, this could be anyone’s race. The 41-year-old has been riding a positive trend before the summer break. He finished P8 in Hungary last July and has a season-best result of P5, making him an ideal name for our list of 2022 Belgian Grand Prix Sleeper picks.
Lando Norris
- 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix Odds: +22500
McLaren’s number one driver is always a reliable sleeper pick. After bagging pole in Russia last season and coming close to his first-ever Grand Prix victory, one bad call robbed it away from him. Nonetheless, it’s only a matter of time before the Brit steps on the podium for his first career P1.
Norris has ten finishes within the top ten and a P3 finish at Emilia Romagna this season. The 22-year-old sits at seventh place in the driver standings with 76 points and dominates the midfield with a mediocre machine. If McLaren gets around its woes with the new car changes, there are solid chances we’ll see the young driver move up in contention with Red Bull and Ferrari in the not-so-distant future.
Valtteri Bottas
- 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix Odds: +50000
We’ve seen the Finnish driver in a new light since joining Alfa Romeo. After spending five years with Mercedes and playing a supporting role to seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton, it’s good to see Bottas get some of the pressure off his back. Even though his current team does not have the fastest car on the grid, the 32-year-old pushes the car to the limit. He also finished within the top ten on seven occasions in 2022.
The ten-time Grand Prix winner is riding a string of unlucky races right now, recording two retirements in four races and a P14 and a P11 splitting the two. However, if he can bounce back from the previous results, a Valtteri Bottas in form can always threaten the race leaders.
