2022 Big East Tournament Massive Predictions
The upper half of the Big East standings is filled with dangerous teams all vying for the conference title. Although the group is headlined by three ranked programs, there’s very little room for error in the tourney for these seemingly national tourney-bound schools given how competitive the entire conference has been throughout the regular season.

Seton Hall Makes a Deep Run
The path is clear for the sixth-seeded Seton Hall Pirates to continue shocking the Big East picture. They’re the hottest team in the conference entering the tournament, winning five consecutive games capped off with a five-point victory over fourth-seeded Creighton.
Seton Hall’s first-round opponent is as easy as it gets in Georgetown, which is still mired in a 20-game losing streak to date. A win over the Hoyas will then set up a rematch with No. 3 seed UConn; a team that the Pirates split their season series against and with each affair being tight contests. With these factors in mind, we wouldn’t be surprised if Seton Hall reaches the semifinals and beyond.
UConn’s Title Dreams Dashed Early
There’s a reason why the No. 9 Purdue Boilermakers are being regarded as the real team to beat in the Big Ten despite their status as a No. 3 seed in the tournament. Save for one blowout loss to Michigan, all five of Purdue’s other losses were decided by five points or less apiece.
The Boilermakers’ wins have also been more impressive compared to the rest of the competition, having swept defending champion Illinois in two games by a combined 19-point margin along with victories over other powerhouses like North Carolina and Villanova earlier in the season. However, Purdue still has to be wary of Wisconsin advancing from the quarterfinals, as the team went winless against the Badgers in their two meetings that both went down the wire.

Providence and Villanova Battle it Out for the Big East Crown
The No. 11 Providence Friars and the No. 8 Villanova Wildcats are the one- and two-seeds of the Big East tournaments, respectively, and it’s hard to predict any other outcome than the two best teams in the conference being the last two teams standing in the end.
Providence has been extremely consistent, having two separate eight-game win streaks in the regular season with no back-to-back defeats and ending with a glowing 24-4 overall record. However, with four Big East titles won since 2015 under the steady guidance of head coach Jay Wright, Villanova has the edge in overall big-game experience. Not only that, but the Wildcats also swept the Friars in their two meetings this season; albeit with both contests being hotly-contested affairs with Nova winning by just five points in the first encounter and by just two points in the rematch.
