2022 Big Ten Tournament Insane Predictions
It’s quite the topsy-turvy world over in the Big Ten. The highest-seeded program in the group (Purdue) finished just third in the regular season standings, and an unranked team in Rutgers also finished with a better record than No. 24 Iowa to further muddy up the conference tournament bracket. With mayhem in the upper ranks, the Big Ten tournament is sure to deliver plenty of surprises and upsets.
NitroBetting is ready to dish out some timely assists to our bettors all throughout the 2022 March Madness season. This time, we’ve come up with three bold predictions for the 2022 Big Ten Tournament featuring some of the prominent programs in the nation such as Wisconsin and Illinois.

Wisconsin is One-And-Done
Just when things were falling into place for the No. 12 Wisconsin Badgers, they suddenly fell into a trap in the form of Nebraska in their final game of the regular season, suffering a one-point upset to the Cornhuskers. Coupled with a win by Illinois in its own regular-season finale, the Badgers dropped to second place in the final Big Ten regular season standings.
It’s a good thing that Wisconsin gets byes in the first two rounds of the tournament because the team needs star player Johnny Davis (20.0 PPG) to be at tip-top shape. Davis was hit hard with a flagrant foul against Nebraska, with his status still up in the air. There’s a high possibility that the Badgers will face seventh-seeded Michigan State in the quarterfinals as well, with the Spartans handing them a 12-point rout back in January. Thus, Wisconsin is certainly in danger of what could be an early exit from the Big Ten tourney.
Illinois Comes Up Short
There’s a reason why the No. 9 Purdue Boilermakers are being regarded as the real team to beat in the Big Ten despite their status as a No. 3 seed in the tournament. Save for one blowout loss to Michigan, all five of Purdue’s other losses were decided by five points or less apiece.
The Boilermakers’ wins have also been more impressive compared to the rest of the competition, having swept defending champion Illinois in two games by a combined 19-point margin, along with victories over other powerhouses like North Carolina and Villanova earlier in the season. However, Purdue still has to be wary of Wisconsin advancing from the quarterfinals, as the team went winless against the Badgers in their two meetings that both went down the wire.
