2021 PGA Butterfield Bermuda Championship Recap
Australian Lucas Herbert won the Bermuda Championship after shooting a -15. Patrick Reed and Danny Lee tied for second place at -14.
Fourth place went to Patrick Rodgers at -13 and Taylor Pendrith and Scott Stallings tied for fifth place at -12. Five golfers: Davis Riley, J.J. Spaun, Peter Malnati, Curtis Thompson, and Vincent Whaley tied for seventh place at -11.
This year’s chalk, Denny McCarthy, shot a -4. Second choice Thomas Detry shot a -7.
2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Top Pick
Seamus Power played well enough in last year’s event to warrant a look to win the 2022 Bermuda Championship. Power shot a 67-70-70-67 on his way to a decent -10.
Seamus was only 5 strokes off Herbert’s winning score. Seamus is playing well. Although he missed the cut at the Shriners Children’s Open, Power bounced back with a Top 50 finish at the loaded CJ Cup.
2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Second Pick
Patrick Rodgers’ -13 at the 2021 Bermuda Championship makes him a solid pick to win this year’s tournament. Patrick shot a terrific 68-64-69-70 on his way to the final score. This season, Patrick has improved with every tournament. Rodgers missed the cut at the Fortinet Championship. The second choice finished a tied fifty-fourth at the Sanderson Farms.
Rodgers followed up that finish with a tied twenty-eight at the Shriners Children’s Open. In his last tournament played, the ZOZO Championship, Patrick shot a 65-69-67 in the final three rounds to finish a tied sixteenth.
Rodgers can win this and warrants a long look if you don’t like Seamus’ chances.
2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Third Pick
The chalk didn’t perform great at the 2021 tournament. But we shouldn’t write off Denny McCarthy’s chances of winning this. Denny shot a couple of rounds under 70 at the 2021 Bermuda Championship. McCarthy posted a 68 second-round and a 69 fourth-round. McCarthy shot a -37 at the CJ Cup, implying for sure he can win this.
2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Underdog Pick
Byeong-Hun An’s form has gone south. After a decent tied fourth at the Fortinet Championship, Byeong-Hun finished a tied forty-fourth at the Shriners Children’s Open. The top underdog then finished a tied sixty-second at The CJ Cup in South Carolina. Byeong-Hun has never won a PGA title.
He didn’t tee off at last year’s event. But the CJ Cup was loaded with top players. So if An can rediscover the form that led to the fourth-place finish at the Fortinet, who knows? At the odds, Byeong-Hun is worth a look.
