2021 F1 Dutch GP Recap
Max Verstappen not only won the pole at last year’s Dutch Grand Prix, but he also won the race. Verstappen finished close to 21 seconds ahead of second place finisher Lewis Hamilton.
Valtteri Bottas, driving for Mercedes back then, finished third. Fourth place went to Pierre Gasly and Charles Leclerc finished fifth. Fernando Alonso finished sixth, Carlos Sainz finished seventh, and Sergio Perez finished eighth.
2022 Dutch Grand Prix Picks
Top Pick to Win the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix
Any odds under -200 makes Verstappen an easy choice. Max Verstappen returns to his home nation. So there’s no doubt he wants to win this race.
Also, Max has won 3 straight: the French Grand Prix, Hungarian Grand Prix, and Belgian Grand Prix. Of the 14 races this Formula 1 season, Verstappen has won 9. The lone knock is Max has yet to win 4 straight. That should change on Sunday.
Second Pick to Win the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix
Sergio Perez crossed the finish line in a decent eighth at the 2021 Dutch Grand Prix. But that isn’t the only reason to like Sergio to step to the podium on Sunday.
At Belgium, in the last F1 event, Perez finished second behind teammate Max Verstappen. Both of Red Bull’s drivers and crew are scorching up racetracks. In addition, the second choice won the Monaco GP in late May. Give Sergio Perez a big chance to the turn tables on his teammate and cross the finish line first.
Third Pick to Win the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix
Ferrari’s top driver had no shot in Belgium after a visor strip tore off of Verstappen’s ride and got stuck in one of Charles Leclerc’s air ducts. But even though Leclerc had no chance of winning the race after the incident, he finished a respectable sixth.
Expect Ferrari and their best driver to go after it on Sunday. Leclerc is up against it because this race happens in the place of Verstappen’s birth, but Charles might be due. The last race Leclerc won was the Austrian Grand Prix in early July.
Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton is an obvious underdog choice at +1200, but Hamilton may not be aggressive enough on Sunday after causing an accident at the Belgian Grand Prix. Hamilton’s tentativeness will open the door for teammate George Russell to make a presence.
Russell finished fourth in Belgium, which means he should have a shot to win this on Sunday. Mercedes is due for a victory. If Hamilton isn’t aggressive, Russell will be the driver to grab the constructor’s first victory of the Formula 1 season.
