Belgium

  • 2022 FIFA World Cup Odds: -200

After taking over the international soccer space for over years, Belgium is no longer at the top of the FIFA world rankings. However, they are clear favorites to top Group F in the upcoming World Cup. With top-notch players like Kevin De Bruyne, Dries Mertens, Eden Hazard, and Thibaut Courtois, The Red Devils are nothing short of impressive on paper. Furthermore, having Romelu Lukaku adds to the strength of Belgium’s attacking line.

The 14-time World Cup participant secured its best result in Russia 2018 where they bagged a third-place victory against England. The Belgian side also has two wins against Poland in the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League, winning the games 6-1 and 1-0, respectively. If head coach Roberto Martínez can prime his team to performances similar to 2018, there’s no question that Belgium has a lengthy campaign ahead.

Croatia

  • 2022 FIFA World Cup Odds: +275

No one expected Croatia to reach the World Cup finals in 2018. But, head coach Zlatko Dalić proved everyone wrong in Russia and took his team to the last stage of the tournament. Despite very little World Cup experience, The Blazers stood strong against eventual winners France in the most recent tournament. This is a massive success for the team considering they only qualified for the tournament for the first time in 1998.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric captains the team in possibly the last World Cup of his career. The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has an interesting collection of teammates, including Domagoj Vida, Andrej Kramaric, Marcelo Brozovic, and Mateo Kovacic, all of which played crucial parts in their 2018 run. Ultimately, we expect Croatia to give Belgium a run for its money and very good chances of securing a spot in the second round.

Morocco

  • 2022 FIFA World Cup Odds: +750

The Atlas Lions hope to rebound from their last game in Qatar. They fell in the hands of Algeria in a thrilling clash at the Arab Cup last December. This time around, they get a chance to build momentum and have another shot at a Round-of-16 appearance since their last one in 1986.

It’s unsure whether Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech will put his nation’s colors on after falling out with head coach Vahid Halilhodžić. Nevertheless, many are hopeful for his return as he plays a crucial role in this lineup. The six-time World Cup competitors have significant achievements on the international stage, including a 1976 victory in the Africa Cup of Nations, a 2012 win in the Arab Cup, and two African Nations Championship titles in 2018 and 2020. This is a team that can spark interesting storylines as underdogs of Group F.

Canada

  • 2022 FIFA World Cup Odds: +1000

Canada waited over three decades for this moment to come. Although they returned home from Mexico winless and without a single goal, ex-Liverpool forward and Basel player Liam Millar reiterated that his team is there to win games. Former English soccer player John Herdman leads the team to its first World Cup since 1986.

The Maple Leafs have decent international achievements. In 18 Gold Cups, the nation bagged two championship titles in 1985 and 2000. Having a young and competent leader and veteran midfielder and Besiktas player Atiba Hutchinson taking charge, we eagerly await the results that The Reds will yield in November. Their numbers offer opportunities for punters looking for suitable sleeper picks.
