2022 French Open Women’s Singles Semifinals

Iga Swiatek vs. Daria Kasatkina

20-year-old Warsaw, Poland native Iga Swiatek has proven she’s more than deserving of her number one ranking. Swiatek is 37-3 in singles matches this year. So far in the French Open, she’s dominated. The chalk in this has lost a single set, to Qin Wen Zheng in the fourth round. After dropping the extra set, Swiatek blasted Zheng 6-0 and 6-2.

Daria Kasatkina played perfect tennis up until the quarterfinals. Even in the quarters, Kasatkina didn’t lose a set but she did require an extra set to get past Veronika Kudermetova. Taking on Swiatek is a massive jump in class. The odds are terrible, but Iga should march to the finals with zero issues.

2022 French Open Pick: Iga Swiatek -1000

Martina Trevisan vs. Cori Gauff

Gauff beat highly respected Elise Mertens 6-4, 6-0 in her fourth round match. Then Coco blasted Sloane Stephens 7-5, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. Martina Trevisan is a good tennis player. Trevisan, though, required 3 sets to get by Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the fourth round. Then in her quarterfinals match, Trevisan played 4 sets to beat Lehylah Fernandez. Gauff is the pick.

Rafael Nadal vs. Alexander Zverev

Nadal versus Zverev should be an incredible tennis match. It’s difficult to go against the King of Clay after the way he disposed of world number one Novak Djokovic. Djokovic entered his match with Rafa the favorite. But Nadal has a ridiculous over 90% win rate on clay. Novak fought hard, winning a set and pushing the match to five sets, but in the end, Rafa prevailed.

As great as the 35-year-old Nadal looked, though, he’s up against it versus his 25-year-old opponent. Alexander Zverev, the world’ third-ranked player, dispatched of strong Carlos Alcaraz in 5 sets to stamp his ticket to the semis. The French Open is Zverev’s tournament to win or lose. We’re calling the upset.

2022 French Open Pick: Alexander Zverev +259

Caspar Ruud vs. Marin Cilic

Both Ruud and Cilic figure to enter this match tired. Ruud required 5 sets to get past unranked Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune. Cilic required 6 sets to get by Andrey Rublev. Of the two, the player who should have more energy in this is Ruud because Caspar is 10 years younger than Marin. Both are great tennis players. But Ruud has a chance to catapult from eighth into the top five with a victory. So Caspar gets the nod.

2022 French Open Pick: Caspar Ruud -244
