Are the Zags an overlay or underlay?

Gonzaga is loaded. But the Zags didn’t win it last season and Jalen Suggs played point. This season, Gonzaga doesn’t appear to be as talented. Not only that, but the Zags play in the West Coast Conference, which means after their early season schedule, they didn’t get to warm up for the NCAA Tournament against top competition. The knocks don’t mean the Bulldogs can’t win the trophy. It does mean that at the odds they’re a play against.

What team among Kentucky, Auburn, and Arizona deserves a look to win it all?

All three are deserving. Auburn plays excellent team basketball. They also had to play an SEC schedule, which means that on most nights the Tigers faced a quality opponent.

One of those quality opponents was, and could be in the SEC Tournament, the Kentucky Wildcats. John Calipari’s squad boasts likely Player of the Year Oscar Tshiebwe and top point guard Sahvir Wheeler. Calipari’s team is a mix of upper classmen and freshman. The 2022 Kentucky Wildcats might be Coach Cal’s best team ever, which is a scary thought.

Tommy Lloyd’s Arizona Wildcats team plays lock down defense and can run and gun. The one knock is that the Pac-12 was relatively weak this season with only Zona, UCLA, and USC worthy of tournament bids. But Arizona offers better odds and should grab a 1-seed, which means we shouldn’t discount their chances. Consider Arizona, Kentucky, and Auburn worthy of long looks to win the title.

Name the best 2022 March Madness bet among Purdue, Duke, Kansas, and Baylor

Kansas and Baylor are 1-2. Purdue and Duke will have a tough time winning the championship. Purdue is good enough, but there’s a reason Big Ten teams often break down in the NCAA Tournament.

The Big Ten is a deep conference. So by the time a title contender from the Big Ten gets to the Elite Eight, they’re gassed. Purdue could end up in that category of Big Ten teams that blow opponents out of the water until the Sweet 16 or Elite Eight where they fall apart. Duke doesn’t seem good enough to win the National Championship. The team has a couple of good players, but the overall depth isn’t there.

Kansas and Baylor both have depth, have very good offenses, and play exceptional defense. Kansas has an edge over Baylor because Ochai Agbaji is unstoppable. So give the Jayhawks a slight edge over the Bears to win it all.

Which team among UCLA, Villanova, and Houston is the best bet to win it all?

UCLA is a good team, but they don’t have that one player that can lead them to a championship victory. Neither does the Houston Cougars. Both can go far, Sweet 16 at least, but should fail before reaching the Final Four. Villanova, though, can cut down the nets.

Jay Wright is a tournament coach. He knows how to get Nova ready to perform their best during March Madness. Also, Collin Gillespie is the best point guard in the nation. He’ll ensure the team doesn’t fall too far behind and has a shot to win the close games in the final minutes.

Among the post +2000-odd contenders, Villanova is the best bet. Great coach and a great point guard means Nova should at least make it to the Elite Eight.
