2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Odds and Picks

By Carlos Chacon

Often regarded as the consolation prize to the more coveted Most Valuable Player of the Year award, the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award is just as sought-after considering the myriad of football legends who’ve hoisted the award. It’s also arguably much tougher to predict who’ll win that distinction compared to the much clearer MVP race, which means the betting action for the Offensive Player of the Year award winner will be a bit more challenging whilst still being a very intriguing prop bet to follow all season long.

Nitrobetting is ready to equip its bettors with the latest news, NFL futures odds, and special features for the duration of the 2022 NFL offseason. This time, let’s take a closer look at a handful of prolific offensive players who are candidates for the 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award and their respective odds of winning the coveted prize.

2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Favorites

Jonathan Taylor

  • 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Odds: +800

Few NFL players surprised fans and experts alike than Indianapolis running back Jonathan Taylor, who broke through in his sophomore campaign with much fanfare. The former second-round pick out of Wisconsin finished with mind-boggling numbers of 1,811 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns and will look to extend his streak of 1,000-yard rushing campaigns for a third consecutive year.

Had it not been for a rarer feat accomplished by the eventual 2021 Offensive Player of the Year awardee (more on him up next), Taylor would’ve likely won the award last season. Thankfully, having a new, more experienced quarterback in Matt Ryan running the offense further reinforced Taylor’s case of winning the award once and for all.

Cooper Kupp

  • 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Odds: +900

Offensive Player of the Year? Check. Super Bowl champion? Check. There’s not much else left on Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp’s bucket list of accomplishments in the pros and it will also be tough for him to top his phenomenal performance from the 2021 season.

Last year, Kupp finished with the rare triple crown in receiving stats, leading the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and receiving TDs (16). He was the first to accomplish that feat since Steve Smith Sr. in 2005, which rightfully earned him the OPOY award. Kupp doesn’t have much competition from the Rams’ current receiving corps, though, which is a good sign that he could become the first back-to-back Offensive Player of the Year awardee since Marshall Faulk won it in three straight seasons over two decades ago.

2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Dark Horses

Travis Kelce

  • 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Odds: +4,000

As the consensus best tight end in the NFL, Travis Kelce deserves some recognition as a viable sleeper candidate to win the 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award. The nine-year pro has been the stabilizing force for the Chiefs’ offense for nearly a decade and has a streak of six consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons still going for him.

Not only that, but Kelce is one of the best end-zone threats in the league as well, averaging over 8.5 touchdowns per season over the last five years. With the departure of top KC wideout Tyreek Hill, Kelce will likely see more looks downfield from Patrick Mahomes this upcoming season than ever before, which is why he’s a very attractive sleeper pick to win the award.

Russell Wilson

  • 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Odds: +4,000

Often snubbed for the regular-season MVP award, quarterback Russell Wilson gets a fresh start in Denver after the Broncos went all-in for the former Super Bowl MVP this offseason. In a full decade’s output under center as Seahawk, Russ finished each of his 10 seasons in Seattle with no fewer than 3,1000 passing yards and 20 passing TDs.

Durability also strengthens Wilson’s case for the Offensive Player of the Year award, as he’s only missed two games throughout his already decorated NFL career; albeit with those couple of DNPs coming from the previous season. With a better offensive line unit in Denver protecting him and a handful of rising wideouts in Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy, Wilson’s odds of taking home some individual is the best it has been in years.

2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Huge Reach

Leonard Fournette

  • 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Odds: +10,000

Speaking of durability, that’s the one weak link found in Tampa Bay running back Leonard Fournette’s game. Then again, the Buccaneers were confident enough that the former LSU standout is still in great shape after giving the former LSU standout a three-year contract extension this past season.

Thanks to an offensive system with Tom Brady running the ship, Fournette could very well have a breakthrough season in 2022. The fourth-overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft has not had a 1,000-yard rushing campaign since joining the Bucs, but that could all change this season. Then again, his health and lack of production in Tampa are the key deterrents to his current longshot odds of winning the Offensive Player of the Year award.
