New York Giants
For the past few seasons, Russell Wilson was heavily rumored to be traded to the New York Giants. However, the Giants decided to take the more cautious approach and tried to develop their quarterback of the future in Daniel Jones as the sixth-overall player taken at the 2019 NFL Draft.
But as we’ve seen, Jones is a turnover machine and has not panned out according to New York’s plans. With a new coaching staff arriving in 2022, the Giants could jump ship from the Jones project and go all-in for Russ. Wilson, meanwhile, will play for a big-market franchise to sustain his lucrative off-field ventures, as well as become the next QB legend who can take the G-Men back to the Super Bowl.
Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos have not had an elite quarterback under center since Peyton Manning, but that could all change in the 2022 offseason. John Elway and the Broncos front office are in prime position to make a play for the elite QBs set to hit the market, with Aaron Rodgers and Wilson himself being the top two candidates.
A change in scenery over to the AFC could be a good way to revitalize Wilson’s plateauing career. What’s great about his situation in Denver is that the team has a strong defense to complement its promising receiving corps made up of Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and Noah Fant who are all in it for the long haul. The Broncos also know darn well how phenomenal Wilson is, as it was Russ who virtually sent Manning into the sunset with the Seahawks’ win against them back in Super Bowl XLVIII.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Another decorated AFC franchise in search of a new starting quarterback is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are about to bid farewell to all-time franchise great Ben Roethlisberger when Big Ben officially announces his retirement.
Like the Broncos, the Steelers have the right pieces in place already for Wilson to not worry about a rebuilding phase and get right into playoff contention immediately. But unlike Denver, Pittsburgh actually made it to the postseason this year. Mike Tomlin and Wilson also make for a great fit as two fierce competitors who both have championship-winning experience under their belts.
