Myles Garrett
- 2022 NFL DPOY Award Odds: +650
Save for a highly-publicized altercation with Pittsburgh backup quarterback Mason Rudolph, Browns superstar defensive end Myles Garrett has seen nothing but improvements in his game since entering the league as the first-overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. Last season, Garrett set new career-highs of 16 sacks and 51 total tackles. His gradual rise as an imposing pass-rushing threat earns him the distinction of being the consensus favorite to win the 2022 NFL Defensive Player of the Year award as we speak.
T.J. Watt

Speaking of Pittsburgh, it was none other than Steelers standout edge rusher T.J. Watt who took home the 2021 NFL DPOY award after a phenomenal campaign that saw the 27-year-old force out of Wisconsin tie Michael Strahan’s record of 22.5 sacks in a single season. The younger half of the Watt brothers has more juice left in his tank than his older sibling right now and we wouldn’t be surprised in T.J. gives J.J. a run for his money by also winning back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year honors this upcoming season.
Nick Bosa

After missing the majority of the 2020 NFL season due to a season-ending knee injury, San Francisco pass-rusher Nick Bosa made a huge comeback the year after to reinforce his bid as one of the best edge rushers in all of football. Bosa finished the previous season with new personal bests of 15.5 sacks and 21 tackles for loss, with that rise in TFLs emphasizing his improvement in run defense as well. The Niners also have one of the better defenses in the league in general, which may draw more attention to the former second-overall pick’s production.
Joey Bosa

The NFL sure loves their sibling rivalries, as Nick Bosa’s big brother, Joey, has been a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate since making his presence felt in the pros back in 2016. The older Bosa basher has four double-digit sack seasons across six years in the NFL and many praise Bosa’s pass-rushing mechanics to this very day. Similar to baby bro Nick, Joey also has an elite Chargers defense to back up his nomination for this year’s DPOY accolade as the two are appealing sleeper picks to take home some individual hardware in 2022.
Khalil Mack

The 2016 NFL season was also the same time that mammoth of an outside linebacker, Khalil Mack, won his first and only NFL Defensive Player of the Year award during his third NFL season back in Oakland. Mack did cool off a bit during his three-year stint in Chicago but is back in Cali after the Chargers signed him to a massive deal this offseason. Los Angeles’ pass-rushing duo of Bosa and Mack is as frightening as they come and we wouldn’t be surprised if both men battle it out for the 2022 NFL DPOY award when all is said and done.
