The 2022 US Open is the third major tournament on the PGA TOUR calendar and will take place at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. It’s the first time since 1988 that Brookline will be the setting for the US Open, and just the fourth time overall in the major’s long-running legacy.
Last year, a massive prize pool worth $12.5 million was at stake at the 2021 US Open. While the total purse for this year’s run of the US Open won’t be finalized until the tournament is over, it is estimated that the total payout will be significantly greater in 2022 considering how every PGA TOUR event of the current season has each seen an increase in prize money.
That being said, it’s estimated that the total prize purse for the 2022 US Open will be somewhere within the ballpark of $15 million, considering that that was also the total prize purse of another recently-concluded major tournament in the PGA Championship.
