Ons Jabeur vs. Ajla Tomljanovic
The highlight so far of Ajla Tomljanovic’s U.S. Open run is her victory over Serena Williams. The 7-5, 6-7(4-7), 6-1 match sent Serena into competitive retirement. But Tomljanovic didn’t stop there. She also beat Liudmila Samsonova 7-6 (10-8), 6-1, proving it doesn’t matter who she’s up against, Ajla is going about her business and playing great tennis.
Ons Jabeur is playing like a U.S. Open champ. She’s lost a single set during the tournament. Jabeur dropped the first set against Shelby Rogers in the third round. Ons bounced back with back-to-back set victories. Tomljanovic is playing great. Jabeur is playing better.

Cori Gauff vs. Caroline Garcia
Caroline Garcia is playing the best tennis of her life. Garcia has yet to lose a set. Heck, her opponents have yet to challenge her in a set. Caroline is on a mission, which is one of the reasons she’s the chalk versus Cori Gauff.
Like Garcia, Coco also hasn’t lost a set. Gauff has had to work harder for her victories. But she’s playing into her role as the next great WTA American player. This could be Gauff’s tournament. Cori gets the nod.

Iga Swiatek vs. Jessica Pegula
The set spread says favored Swiatek sweeps underdog Pegula. On paper, beating Pegula in straight sets looks difficult to accomplish. Swiatek has had a single hiccup on her way to the quarterfinals. For some reason, she couldn’t hang against Jule Niemeier in the first set. Niemeier beat Iga 2-6. Swiatek rallied to win the next couple of sets 6-4 and 6-0.
Niemeier had a fantastic Wimbledon tournament. So Swiatek’s fourth round opponent is a good player. After requiring 4 sets to get by Yue Yuan in the fourth round, Pegula dusted Petra Kvitova 6-3, 6-2. She could bounce off the effort, making Iga Swiatek the play to cover.

Karolina Pliskova vs. Aryna Sabalenka
Pliskova versus Sabalenka should be a terrific tennis match. Both players are at the top of their games. Sabalenka lost the first set to American Danielle Collins in her fourth round match. Aryna rallied to win the next 2 sets 6-3, 6-2.
Pliskova worked hard in her last match, a 4-set contest versus Victoria Azarenka. Karolina came out ahead. This is the first time these two have ever faced off. Sabalenka is having the better season and Pliskova has one day to get over the grueling match versus Azarenka. The chalk is the play.
