2022 Wimbledon Women’s Finals Betting Preview & Prediction

By Hank Blaine

In the Wimbledon Semifinals, Elena Rybakina upset Simona Halep in straight sets and Ons Jabeur beat Tatjana Maria in straight sets to stamp their tickets to the women’s singles finals match on Saturday, July 9. Once oddsmakers set a line, Jabeur should be a slight favorite. But Ons won’t be enough of a favorite to make Rybakina an overlay. Check out why Rybakina can beat Jabeur, why Jabeur is the better play, and a final prediction for the 2022 Wimbledon Women’s Finals.

Why Elena Rybakina is a good bet versus Ons Jabeur?

This might be the 23-year-olds time to lift to the best in the world level. Elena Rybakina didn’t just upset Simona Halep. She dominated Halep 6-3, 6-3. What’s so surprising about the victory is that Simona had played close to perfect tennis. So we shouldn’t look past Elena Rybakina beating Jabeur.

Why Ons Jabeur is a good bet versus Elena Rybakina

On Thursday, Jabeur clocked her twenty-third victory on grass in her last twenty-five lawn matches. The record makes Jabeur one of the best grass players, if not the best, in the world. Ons has won her last 11 grass events. She is close to unbeatable on turf. So unless she stumbles, she should be in a position to beat Rybakina and win the Wimbledon plate.

Who will win the 2022 Wimbledon Women’s Final?

Jabeur’s amazing record on grass is the reason that once odds land, they should favor Ons. But even though the odds will favor Jabeur, Elena Rybakina won’t be a huge underdog. Both players have shown tremendous ability. Jabeur lost the second set 3-6 to Maria. Ons bounced back with a brilliant 6-1 third set.

If that third set Ons Jabeur steps onto the grass on Saturday, Rybakina could be in some trouble. Jabeur headed into Wimbledon off a victory at the Bett1 in Germany. The Bett1 was Jabeur’s second title of the year after winning the Mutua Madrid Open in Spain. Jabeur’s grass acumen makes her a clear choice.

But although the clear choice, Jabeur isn’t the pick. Ons did lose a set to Tatjana Maria. That’s not a great sign because the 34-year-old Maria has won a total of 2 singles titles. Elena Rybakina didn’t give Simona Halep a chance to breath. Rybakina rolled through the former Wimbledon winner, blasting her via a 6-3, 6-3 score.

Also, Elena has shown she can step it up when required. Ajla Tomljanovic won the first set against Rybakina, but Elena didn’t fold. Instead, she dominated the next two sets. It won’t be easy beating the Queen of the Lawn. But Elena Rybakina is good enough to get it done. Rybakina is the play to win this year’s Wimbledon title.
