2021 PGA World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba Recap

Both Hovland and Scheffler played in last year’s World Wide Technology tournament. Scheffler shot well: 67, 64, 70, 66, but it wasn’t good enough to put Scottie into the top three.

Hovland shot a 62 third-round on his way to a terrific -23. Carlos Ortiz followed Viktor on the standings after shooting a -19.

Justin Thomas, who won’t tee off on Thursday, shot a -18 followed by Scheffler’s -17. Other notables include Seamus Power, Brendan Todd, and Maverick McNealy all at -14.

2022 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba Top Pick

It’s almost never a good idea to bet chalk to win a golf tournament. It’s especially not a good idea when the player offering favorite’s odds finished a tied forty-fifth in their last tournament played.

Scottie Scheffler wasn’t at the top of his game at the CJ Cup in the second half of October. But Scottie knows he has a better shot of winning the World Wide Tech title then he did the CJ Cup. So Scheffler may have used the CJ, his first tournament played this season, to get on track.

Scottie will be looking to secure another PGA victory on Sunday. Take the chalk seriously.

2022 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba Second Pick

The defending champion pulled away in last year’s third round after shooting a ridiculous 62. Viktor Hovland has talent for days. Most of the talent has yet to be tapped.

One of the reasons is age. Hovland is 25-year-old, making him one of the youngest tournament winners on the PGA Tour.

The talent rose to the top in this last year. Why couldn’t it rise again this year? Also, Hovland is playing great golf. He finished a tied fifth at the ZOZO Championship and a tied twenty-first at the CJ Cup.

2022 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba Third Pick

Maverick McNealy missed the cut at the Fortinet, but since then he’s been shooting lights out. Maverick finished a tied tenth at the Shriners.

He followed up the performance at the Shriners Children’s Open with a tied twelfth at the ZOZO. At the CJ Cup, McNealy finished a tied eighteenth.

Maverick’s swinging his sticks well enough to warrant a long look. In addition, the odds are fair.

2022 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba Underdog Pick

Brendan Todd produced a terrific 67-69-66-68 at last season’s World Wide Technology Championship. The performance led to a terrific tied eleventh.

Brendon knows how to hit the ball at El Cameleon GC. No doubt, he’ll be at the top of his game this week. Plus, he finished a tied seventh at the CJ Cup in his last tournament played.

Todd has a better shot than the odds indicate, making him an underdog overlay. Consider.
