2023 AdventHealth 400 Sleeper Picks

By Jeff Stinger

The NASCAR Cup Series heads out to Kansas Speedway for Sunday’s AdventHealth 400. 23XI Racing dominated the track last year and swept all races on the 1.5-mile oval in 2022. They are the team to beat this year, but it’s also worth noting that this track demands a lot from the drivers. Other than the favorites, there are a few more contenders that creep their way up from our list of sleepers. Find out how the field stacks up with Nitrobetting’s AdventHealth 400 sleeper picks below.

Chris Buescher

  • 2023 AdventHealth 400 Race Odds: +100,000

RFK Racing has one of the most overlooked names on the grid in Chris Buescher. The 30-year-old drives the No. 17 Ford Mustang for his team. His last win was at Briston in 2022. However, his trajectory to the win wasn’t as straightforward as most. He had to wait 222 races after his first victory at Pocono in 2016 before he returned to the podium last year. Adding to his collection of positive results is a win at the second 2022 Bluegreen Vacations Duel at Daytona with RFK Racing.

The 2015 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion has three career Xfinity wins in the bag. He also previously appeared in three seasons in Cup for JTG Daugherty Racing between 2017 and 2019. So far this season, the Texas native ranks 12th on the board. He documented four top-ten finishes and a pair of top-fives in 11 races. Chris Buescher currently has a 13.818 average start and a 15.455 average finish.

Ryan Preece

  • 2023 AdventHealth 400 Race Odds: +125,000

Ryan Preece now drives the No. 41 Ford for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season after his stint for Stewart-Haas Racing as a reserve driver. He made a few starts across three national series last year. Included in his list of achievements is a win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Nashville Superspeedway. A year before that, he was behind the wheel of the No. 37 Chevrolet for JTG Daugherty Racing. The year 2020 was arguably one of the best for him as he earned a pair of top tens and an average finish of 24.3.

So far, the 32-year-old ranks 28th this season with 169 points. Ryan scored a pole finish, but was unlucky on multiple occasions and picked up four DNFs. The Connecticut native holds an average start of 21.909 and an average finish of 24.727. So far, Preece also led 141 laps and remains one of the hottest sleeper picks this season thanks to his composed nature and commendable accomplishments.

Justin Haley

  • 2023 AdventHealth 400 Race Odds: +200,000

The man from Indiana returns to NASCAR and suits up for Kaulig Racing in 2023. He drives the No. 31 Chevrolet in the 2023 Cup Series and ranks 26th in the standings as of this writing. Haley’s credentials feature a lengthy stint in the Xfinity Series as Kaulig Racing’s driver of the No. 11 Chevrolet. During his stint there, he collected four Xfinity Series wins on all superspeedways. He also competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series between 2017-18 and achieved three wins and a trip to the Championship Four playoff round in 2018.

Haley approaches the AdventHealth 400 with an average start of 25.818 and an average finish of 21.273. He is on a positive trend at the moment but needs to be more aggressive so he can gain a few more places toward the end of his stint.
