2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational Recap

Last year, Scheffler won, but it was no slam dunk. Scottie had to rally on Saturday and Sunday after shooting a 70 on Thursday and a 73 on Friday. In fact, if Tyrrell Hatton hadn’t shot a horrific 78 on Saturday, Hatton would have won.

Instead, Hatton finished a stroke off Scheffler with a -4 and tied with Viktor Hovland and Billy Horschel in second place. Gary Woodland and Chris Kirk at -3 tied for fifth. Tying for seventh were Lucas Herbert and Talor Gooch, both at -2.

2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational Top Pick

After the 71 and 73 at last year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, Scottie Scheffler turned it on with a 68 Round 3. Scheffler’s 72 in the fourth round was good enough for a -5, which is why Scottie held up the Arnold Palmer Invitational trophy.

This season, Scheffler, the 2022 PGA Player of the Year, has played great golf. He finished third at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba, ninth at the Houston Open, and seventh at the Sentry of Champions.

Scottie won the Phoenix Open. In his last tournament played, Scheffler finished twelfth at the Genesis Invitational. No doubt that at the odds, Scheffler is worth a look to repeat.

2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational Second Pick

Jon Rahm finished a tied seventeenth and 2 over at last year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational. This year, Rahm is going to play much better.

In seven tournaments played so far this season, Rahm has won three, finished in the top five a total of five times, and finished in the top ten a total of seven times.

Jon has yet to finish out of the top ten, which means, yes, he has a shot to win. If not for the odds, he’d be the top play.

2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational Third Pick

Schauffele didn’t tee off at last year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational. No worries. If Xander Schauffele shows up with the same energy he usually shows up with, he’ll have a chance to pocket the winner’s share of the purse.

Xander has four top ten finishes in seven tournaments played this season. He finished thirteenth at the Farmers Insurance Open and tenth at the Phoenix Open.

Schauffele didn’t hit the ball all that great at the Genesis Invitational, which is why he finished a tied thirty-third. We should expect Xander to turn around the form this week.

2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational Underdog Pick

Tyrrell Hatton is another who didn’t hit the ball great at the Genesis. Tyrrell finished a tied fortieth. But Hatton had great success at the 2022 Arnold Palmer.

His Saturday got away from him, for sure. However, if he doesn’t have the Saturday implosion this weekend, who knows? At the odds, Tyrrell Hatton rates a long look if you desire to back an underdog.
