2023 Brazilian Grand Prix Sleeper Picks
Formula 1 goes deep into South America for this weekend’s 20th round. The grid prepares for three days of action around the Autódromo José Carlos Pace. It’s been a while since Max Verstappen last won around the circuit, and the 2023 World Champion is ready to take the top spot with an abundance of pace behind him. George Russell is the last winner of the Brazilian Grand Prix. However, the storylines go beyond the favorites. Interlagos features an exciting layout that could mix things up, which means the top sleeper picks are worth looking at.
Top Sleeper Picks for the 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix
Esteban Ocon
- 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix Odds: +10,000
The Alpine driver matched his best finish in Brazil last year. He now holds a pair of P8s in his portfolio but continues to search for another Grand Prix win. Esteban Ocon already finished in the points in three of his last four races. He’s been unlucky a handful of times this year with six DNFs recorded. However, the Frenchman did produce a solid drive in the sixth round with a P3 finish in Monaco. That was his only podium finish since winning the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2021.
The 27-year-old went through turbulent moments this season. He appeared in nine Q3s with a best start of P3. He also finished in the points 10 times in 19 appearances. The former Lotus driver amassed a total of 45 points good for 12th place in the 2023 Driver Standings. There’s still time to close the gap between him and teammate Pierre Gasly at 10th place (56 points), but the next two races will be crucial for Ocon.
Alex Albon
- 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix Odds: +10,000
Albon has only one appearance in Brazil since joining Formula 1. This means he can pull off something surprising following his incredible drives in an inferior car. The Williams driver keeps his team above water with a few good point finishes in his last few appearances. Albon already has seven points finishes in 19 appearances. He picked up 27 points in the process which is good for 13th place in the 2023 Driver Standings.
The Thai-British motorsports driver squeezes every ounce of potential from his FW45. He produced a few good drives since scoring his first point with the team in the opener. Albon also appeared in six Q3s with a best start of P4 and a best finish of P7, which he achieved in the Italian and Dutch Grand Prix, respectively. Additionally, his back-to-back P9 finishes add to his pace as he gears up for the 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix as one of the top sleeper picks.
Daniel Ricciardo
- >2023 Brazilian Grand Prix Odds: +10,000
The Australian wheelman got another shot at Formula 1 glory. AlphaTauri called him up to take over for Nyck de Vries in hopes of getting better results. Despite suffering a hand injury early into his return, the former Red Bull driver made up for lost time and scored the team’s best finish of 2023. Moreover, he scored important points to bring the constructor to eighth place–ahead of Alfa Romeo and Haas. Ricciardo recorded his best finish in Brazil with Red Bull in 2018 where he finished fourth. He followed it up with another points finish with Renault in 2019 at P6.
Danny Ric has two more races to prove himself worthy of taking Checo’s seat in the event of a sudden change-up. The former Red Bull wheelman has five races under his belt in 2023 and six points. He made the most of his only Q3 appearance and P4 best start since finishing seventh in his previous appearance. The horizon looks good for the 34-year-old since taking a short hiatus from the sport.
