Best Dark Horse

  • BC Dirt Mile – National Treasure +600

The Preakness winner has a reason for the terrible performances at the Travers and Awesome Again. Treasure had to race over mud and a wet fast track.

Not only that, but the Quality Road sired runner is more of a miler type. Bob Baffert has put in some serious works into his Triple Crown race winner. Don’t be surprised when National Treasure holds off Cody’s Wish and takes the Dirt Mile.

Second Best Dark Horse

  • BC Distaff – Randomized +600

The morning line on Randomized makes zero sense. The Chad Brown trained runner heads to the Distaff on a 3-race winning streak.

Randomized shocked Wet Paint and Defining Purpose to take the Grade 1 Alabama at 1 ¼ miles. She won that race on the front end. Then in the Grade 2 Beldame, Randomized beat her elders, including beating Nostalgic.

Third Best Dark Horse

  • BC Mile – Casa Creed +800

Casa Creed has 5 wins from 17 races at the mile distance. The seven-year-old heads into this after winning the Grade 3 Kelso and the Grade 1 Fourstardave going a mile over Saratoga’s turf.

Casa faces a potential monster in Songline but Bill Mott has been preparing Casa Creed for the BC Mile stateside since mid-August and Songline had to travel to Santa Anita from Japan after an October 8 race where she finished second by a nose.

Best Longshot

  • BC Sprint– Nakatomi +2000

Why is Nakatomi 20-to-1 to win the Sprint? Jockey Luis Saez will get Nakatomi to break well from post position 1 and grab a nice spotright behind the speed.

Also, Nakatomi had to go 3 wide and then 6 wide in the Grade 2 Phoenix but still managed to lose to Hoist The Gold by just a ¾ length. Luis boosts this one’s chances big time.

Second Best Longshot

  • BC Classic – Dreamlike +3000

If you use Byer Speed Figures, Dreamlike has no shot. But if you use Brisnet Speed Figs, the Todd Pletcher trained runner is tied with Saudi Crown with the last out highest figure at 108.

Saudi Crown held off Dreamlike by a half-length in the Pennsylvania Derby. Dreamlike is the best bred runner in the Classic and should relish the extra 1/8th of a mile. Don’t sleep on this monster of a price potential upsetter.

Third Best Longshot

  • BC Filly and Mare Sprint – Three Witches +3000

The knock against Three Witches is that she’s not classy enough to win the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. However, Saffie Joseph Jr. is a master at readying horses to win above their supposed class level.

Also, Three Witches is on a 2-race winning streak at this 7 furlong distance. Overall, the lightly raced four-year-old filly has 3 wins, 1 second, and 2 thirds from 7 races. 2-of-4 wins came at 7 furlongs. So she’s batting 50% at the 7 furlong distance.
