Last Sunday in Richmond, Kyle Larson scored his first NASCAR victory of the season. 2022 Food City Dirt Race Recap
Kyle Busch started eleventh. Busch moved his way from eleventh to first. Following Busch across the finish line was Tyler Reddick.
Joey Logano finished third, followed by Kyle Larson in fourth and Ryan Blaney in fifth. Alex Bowman finished sixth, Christopher Bell seventh, and Chase Elliott eighth. Michael McDowell in ninth and Ty Dillon after McDowell rounded out the top ten.
Top Choice to Win the 2023 Food City Dirt Race
Kyle Busch has driven well enough to warrant a look for the top spot. At Auto Club Speedway, Busch won. Then in his next race, he finished fourteenth.
The Richard Childress driver then put together three straight finishes of tenth or better: an eighth at Phoenix, a tenth at Atlanta, and a second at Circuit of the Americas.
Since Kyle finished fourteenth at Richmond last Sunday, he should bounce back with a stellar performance over the dirt. The odds make Busch an overlay to get the back-to-back victory.
Second Top Choice to Win the 2023 Food City Dirt Race
Tyler Reddick’s sixteenth at Richmond last Sunday won’t inspire much confidence. However, drivingover dirt takes a specific skill set.
Those who are good at it tend to always be good at it. At the 2022 Food City Dirt Race, Reddick started third. He ended up finishing second.
If Tyler gets a top five starting spot during qualifying this week, and he likely will, for sure he can win. Give Reddick a big chance to grab the checkered flag and end up doing donuts on Sunday.
Third Top Choice to Win the 2023 Food City Dirt Race
Kyle Larson drove great last Sunday. Also, the fourth place finish in this last year makes him a contender.
But Larson’s odds are too low to put him on top. Kyle can get it done for sure. Every Hendrick driver has the ability to win any race and Hendrick drivers tend to put together back-to-back victories more than drivers on other teams.
Again, though, the odds make Larson a difficult play. If you don’t mind the odds, and you believe, go for it.
Top Underdog Choice to Win the 2023 Food City Dirt Race
Denny Hamlin had all sorts of trouble in last year’s race. Hamlin also didn’t perform well last Sunday.
It’s only a matter of time, though, before Hamlin gets it going. Denny is too good of a driver, the crew is too accomplished, and Joe Gibbs Racing is too solid of an outfit for Hamlin to continue to struggle.
For Denny, it’s all about the starting position. In 2022, Hamlin started thirty-fourth and finished thirty-fifth. If he gets a good starting position for this year’s event, he will have a chance.
