2023 March Madness Final Four Betting Odds

By Jeff Stinger

In one of the more unpredictable Final Four outcomes in recent memory, the 2023 NCAA Tournament has three first-time regional champions and only one former national title winner in the UConn Huskies. Are the Huskies favored odds-wise to win it all considering their program’s overwhelming experience compared to the rest of the competition?

Nitrobetting is ready to dish out key assists and lob passes with betting tips and news coverage throughout the 2023 March Madness tournament. This time, let’s break down each Final Four team’s odds to win the 2023 NCAA Division Men’s Basketball Tournament and why each of these four elite contenders has a claim to become the next national champion.

2023 March Madness Final Four Odds to Win National Title

UConn Huskies

As the most tenured program left in the scene, it stands to reason that UConn is the consensus favorite to win the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Star big man Adama Sanogo was one of only five players in history to score 80 or more points while shooting 65 percent or better from the field through the first four games of the NCAA Tournament.

Furthermore, in the Huskies’ last two trips to Final Four, they won the national title under two different head coaches, and both of those wins were also played in Texas, where this year’s championship game will be held. UConn won their last four March Madness games by an avg of 22.5 points per game, which is another reason why it’s so hard not to bet against Dan Hurley’s squad.

San Diego State Aztecs

Thanks to a terrific shut-down defense, San Diego State reached the Final Four for the first time in school history. The same sentiment is shared by the three other teams in the Final Four not named UConn, but the Aztecs’ unique formula for success could baffle their opponents all the way to an unexpected national title run.

Over SDSU’s last five games (including their win in the Mountain West title game), the team held its opponents to just 57.3 points allowed per game. This is a far cry from the combined 79.5 points-per-game average of the Aztecs’ opponents, with top-seeded Alabama and flamethrowing Creighton being their latest victims at the Big Dance.

Miami Hurricanes

Miami has had the toughest road to Final Four, having to go through the gauntlet of No. 4 Indiana, No. 1 Houston, and No. 2 Texas in their last three outings. However, even with the Longhorns leading by as much as 13 points in their Elite 8 showdown, the Hurricanes still managed to compose themselves en route to a seven-point upset.

Senior guard Jordan Miller had an eye-popping stat line during the win over Texas, scoring 27 points on 100-percent shooting the entire contest (7-of-7 FG, 13-of-13 FT). 73-year-old head coach Jim Larranaga has that one magical Final Four run at the helm of George Mason back in 2006, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the ‘Canes manage to overcome their (+5.5) underdog odds to beat UConn in their Final Four clash on Saturday.

Florida Atlantic Owls

A ton of credit goes to Florida Atlantic head coach Dusty May for sending this little-known mid-major program from the C-USA to new heights. The Owls have never seen the Final Four, let alone win a single March Madness game prior to this year’s campaign.

FAU has adapted to any situation they’ve faced in the tourney to a tee thus far. This would explain why the team has won 11 consecutive games dating back to February 23 and why it’s only a slight (+2.0) dog against San Diego State. History isn’t on the Owls’ side, though, as all eight ninth, 10th, and 11th-seeded teams in the history of the Big Dance failed to advance to the national title game.
