2023 NBA All-Star Saturday Night Odds and Predictions

By Jeff Stinger

In just a few days, the NBA will take its midseason break to bring another fantastic edition of the annual NBA All-Star Weekend. Before the All-Star game itself on Sunday, Saturday will feature three fan-favorite events in the Skills Challenge, the Three-Point Contest, and the Slam Dunk Contest. Who are the players involved in these showcases of talent and who among them do we expect to win their respective event?

Nitrobetting is ready to dish out key assists and lob passes with betting tips and news coverage throughout the 2022-23 NBA season. Let’s take a closer look at the three highly-anticipated events in the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend’s Saturday Night festivities and our predictions for these events.

2023 NBA All-Star Saturday Night Predictions

Skills Challenge

  • Team Antetokounmpo: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Alex Antetokounmpo +500
  • Team Jazz: Jordan Clarkson, Walker Kessler, Collin Sexton -132
  • Team Rooks: Paolo Banchero, Jaden Ivey, Jabari Smith Jr. +150

Last season, the NBA debuted a new format for the Skills Challenge and the league brought back the team format for the event this year. While Team Jazz has a solid mix of veterans and young guns, and the rookie squad is ripe with high upside, the most intriguing pick to win it all happens to be the siblings from Team Antetokounmpo. Giannis will likely pick up most of the slack being the most decorated player amongst all competitors in the event, but Thanasis and Alex would’ve likely spent a ton of time preparing for the Skills Challenge with their younger bro as well considering that this is their best shot of sharing the NBA spotlight with the Greek Freak.

Three-Point Contest

  • Tyrese Haliburton (Pacers) +780
  • Tyler Herro (Heat) +800
  • Kevin Huerter (Kings) +725
  • Buddy Hield (Pacers) +410
  • Damian Lillard (Blazers) +425
  • Lauri Markkanen (Jazz) +650
  • Anfernee Simons (Blazers) +500
  • Jayson Tatum (Celtics) +700

A couple of Blazers and Pacers litter this year’s Three-Point Contest field and our pick to win here happens to hail from Indy in Buddy Hield, who won this event in 2020. Hield’s average of 3.8 three-pointers per game this season is currently tied for the fourth-most in the NBA and has been a reliable deep threat since entering the league. Although, one could also make a case for Damian Lillard’s bid for his first All-Star hardware, or hometown favorite Lauri Markkanen, who’s in the midst of his best campaign as a pro and will be eager to put on a terrific show in front of the Salt Lake crowd this Saturday.

Slam Dunk Contest

  • Kenyon Martin Jr. (Rockets) +187
  • Mac McClung (76ers) +440
  • Trey Murphy III (Pelicans) +285
  • Jericho Sims (Knicks) +137
This year’s Slam Dunk Contest will feature four participants all under the age of 25 and are not considered household names just yet. Each of these young aspiring cagers will get a huge boon from winning the Slam Dunk Contest and we predict Kenyon “KJ” Martin Jr. to rise above the rest. Martin is the son of former first-overall pick Kenyon Martin, who was a beast above the rim during his heydays in the NBA himself, and dunking prowess appears to run in their family indeed. New Orleans’ Trey Murphy III is also an intriguing pick to take home the trophy, as the 17th-overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft has had several impressive dunks of late as teasers for what he could bring to the All-Star Weekend.
