So today, Nitrobetting lines up the names that could land between picks two and five.

2023 NBA Draft Odds and Top Prospects in the No. 2 Pick Slot

Brandon Miller

A long wingspan and scoring abilities are among the desirable traits in the league. Miller projects similar mechanics leading up to the draft. The former five-star recruit topped all freshmen in scoring last season at Alabama and took the helm to lead the Tide to an SEC regular season and SEC Tournament championship while securing a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Miller is an excellent marksman who can be a threat from anywhere on the floor. He is a crafty forward that can create space and operate as a ball-handler in multiple situations. The 20-year-old can work in transition and is crafty enough to forge opportunities for himself. A long frame with a big reach also means he can be a solid defender. He already embraced his role on the defensive end as a true freshman for Alabama–a squad that finished top-three in adjusted efficiency on defense. Miller closes his college career shooting 38.4% from downtown on 276 attempts.

Scoot Henderson

Henderson is a former five-star recruit hailing from Marietta, Georgia. The 19-year-old is a unique prospect who spent two years setting his foundations with G League Ignite. He is a bona fide top-five prospect in the 2023 class thanks to a combination of playmaking, strength, athleticism, and competitiveness. Even just looking at the surface tells us that he can be a lead guard who can serve as a pillar for any rebuilding franchise.

Some of Henderson’s notable traits include his high competitive level. His athleticism allows him to attack the basket and finish around the rim with ease. More than that, his tight handles help him navigate a lead-guard position and drive to facilitate for others. Scoot’s experience in the G League also made him a smarter player and knows when to slow down and when to be aggressive. Last year, the teenager led the league in scoring, steals, and assists while shooting 33% on catch-and-shoot jumpers and 31.3% on pull-up looks downtown.

Amen Thompson

Amen is a projected lottery pick alongside twin brother Ausar Thompson in the 2023 Draft. The former stands out due to his natural playmaking abilities who have explosive strength and an extended frame to support one of the highly-anticipated profiles in this year’s class. He’s been building up his talent with Overtime Elite for the past two years and could be the program’s first-ever Round 1 pick–that’s if his twin doesn’t beat him to it.

The 20-year-old stands out among the crowd due to an uncommon combination of size and vertical ability for a point guard. He utilizes this with his twitchy ability and advanced reads as a playmaker. Think Dejounte Murray. Amen Thompson shot 25% from deep with OTE last season and led the playoffs with 9.2 assists per game in helping the City Repeaters secure a championship.

Cam Whitmore

The Villanova product, Cam Whitmore, hopes to join the top-five picks in this year’s NBA Draft. The forward brings power and explosiveness to the table as one of the most attractive long-term wing prospects this June. A former five-star recruit who was named the top prospect in his class from the state of Maryland, Whitmore is an above-the-rim wing finisher who offers floor-spacing and spot-up shooting ability. The 18-year-old is already a talented shooter and can find numerous ways to get to the basket.

Ultimately, his explosive capacity and above-the-rim finishing thrive in transition. He can also play a solid catch-and-shoot piece since hitting 34.3% of his three-pointers at Villanova. Whitemore can further develop his isolation proceeds given his powerful and athletic ability. If he can work on his recent turnover rate and versatility when driving, he can become a complete player that resembles Charlotte’s Miles Bridges.
