2023 PGA Championship Sleeper Picks

By Jeff Stinger

Only the PGA TOUR’s best professional golfers are eligible to play in this week’s tournament, as the 2023 PGA Championship is ready to tee off from Rochester, New York. With so many elite golfers to choose from, it stands to reason that there’s also amazing value to be had odds-wise for the golfers who are seen as no more than sleeper picks to win the Wanamaker Trophy.

Nitrobetting is here to help turn your golf bets from bogeys to birdies. This time, let’s take a closer look at the three best sleeper candidates to keep tabs on at the 2023 PGA Championship, as well as their corresponding odds to win the latest installment of the annual tournament currently being held in the Oak Hill Country Club.

2023 PGA Championship Sleeper Picks

Cameron Smith

  • 2023 PGA Championship odds: +3,300

Despite only playing in The Masters as his lone PGA TOUR start this season, Australia’s very own Cameron Smith appears built to win the big events whenever he shows up. Since the turn of the decade, the Brisbane native secured five of his six-career wins on the TOUR, including last year’s equally-coveted British Open and THE PLAYERS Championship. That being said, Smith will be one hot sleeper ticket to bank on this week, and not just for golf bettors from Down Under.

Matt Fitzpatrick

  • 2023 PGA Championship odds: +3,300

Hailing from England, meanwhile, is another recent major tourney winner in 28-year-old Matt Fitzpatrick. The reigning U.S. Open champion has been on quite a tear in such events, with four top-15 finishes in five most recent starts at a major, including his triumphant win at Brookline. The PGA Championship is where Fitzpatrick has struggled the most, but his T26 showing in 2021 and his T21 finish last year is still a couple of promising results at the tourney, making him yet another attractive sleeper candidate to keep his big-game victory roll going.

Tyrrell Hatton

  • 2023 PGA Championship odds: +4,000

Another Brit making waves of late on the TOUR is Tyrrell Hatton, who’s hot off back-to-back top-five finishes from the Wells Fargo Championship (T3) and the AT&T Byron Nelson (T5). The Buckinghamshire native has a solo runner-up finish at THE PLAYERS, a T4 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and a T6 at the WM Phoenix Open as his other glowing results this season. The only item left on Hatton’s checklist is an actual win for that first-place checkbox and he’s built an amazing case to finally go the distance as a top dark horse pick to win it all in Oak Hill this week.
