2023 French Open Men’s Singles Top Picks

Top Pick

The chalk couldn’t get by qualifier Fabian Moraszan in Rome in his last, but that’s okay. Carlos Alcarez is like Scottie Scheffler in golf. He wants to win every tournament but he saves his best for the majors.

At +125, Alcaraz might be an overlay. He’s already won 4 singles titles and has gone 27-2 in singles matches this season.

Second Pick

Now that Alcaraz is out, it looks like Novak Djokovic will win the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, which is good for him because Djoker hasn’t had as much success this season as Alcaraz.

But before dumping on Novak, it’s important to note that he didn’t get a chance to play in some tournaments because he hasn’t gotten the COVID-19 vaccine. Hopefully, because the Biden Administration has ended all COVID relief, Djokovic can get back to playing in the U.S.

In any case, Novak is a viable option if you’re looking to play against the chalk.

Third Pick

Rafa Nadal hasn’t played since the Australian Open. Because Nadal has yet to say he won’t play in the French Open, we must include him in our top three.

Nadal is the greatest player in the history of the sport over clay. He’s got a better than 91% win percentage over clay. So although he likely won’t be at his best, he could be good enough to take down Djokovic and Alcaraz should he enter.

2023 French Open Women’s Singles Top Picks

Top Pick

25-5 this season with 2 title victories, the favorite to win the French Open Women’s Singles could be on her way to an Internazionali BNL d’Italia victory.

Iga Swiatek takes on Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals of that tournament. Win or lose the d’Italia, Iga is the top pick to win the French Open.

Swiatek will want to make amends for her poor showing at the Australian Open. Rybakina knocked out Swiatek in the fourth-round at the Aussie Open. Don’t think for a moment Iga has forgotten how it felt to lose a major as the favorite.

Second Pick

Aryna Sabalenka bowed out of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia early, falling to Sofia Kenin in the second round. The loss won’t affect Aryna’s performance at Roland-Garros.

Sabalenka has won three tournaments this season. The biggest victory of the season was at the Aussie Open were she bested Elena Rybakina. It’s not easy winning back-to-back major titles. But Sabalenka can get it done. So if you don’t like the low odds on Swiatek, take a swing on Sabalenka.

Third Pick

Ons Jabeur isn’t in great form. Don’t get us wrong. Ons has a good singles record this season at 11-5. She’s also won a singles title, but she hasn’t played the way a major title winner plays.

The odds make up for the lack of form because if Jabeur can get her game right before May 28, she should be one of the top contenders on the women’s side. Ons is one of the top available underdog options.
