2022 F1 Saudi Arabian GP Recap

Like he did in most races last season, the improbable Max Verstappen took the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix checkered flag. Verstappen finished +0.54 seconds ahead of Charles Leclerc.

Carlos Sainz Jr., Leclerc’s Ferrari teammate, finished in third place. Fourth place went to Verstappen teammate Sergio Perez.

George Russell finished fifth and Lewis Hamilton finished tenth.

2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Picks

Top Pick to Win the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

1-to-2 odds on Max Verstappen might constitute overlay odds. Verstappen not only dominated last season, but he started out this season like how ended last season, by winning a race.

Right now, Red Bull is an unstoppable force. Verstappen should take another checkered flag no problem. This time, teammate Perez may not be in second.

So Red Bull won’t win the top two podium spots but Max will get the trophy.

Second Pick to Win the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

Charles Leclerc had to retire in Bahrain, which helps us if you believe he can beat Verstappen and Perez. If Leclerc hadn’t retired, his odds would be closer to +500 than +1000.

Charles is Ferrari’s top driver. He finished second in this race last season and won three races in 2022. It’s early. So if Leclerc can pull off the victory on Sunday, he’ll be right there with Verstappen near the top of the standings.

Third Pick to Win the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

Sergio Perez would be the top driver anywhere except Red Bull. Last season, Perez finished an excellent fourth behind Verstappen, Leclerc, and Sainz Jr in this. If Sergio gets some luck, he can overtake those three drivers this year.

In Bahrain, Perez finished second behind his teammate. Sergio, no doubt, can win this. But the odds are low and he, like everyone except Max, benefited in Bahrain after Leclerc had to retire.

Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

In most races, George Russell is a better pick than Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton. This race is no different.

Russell not only offers better odds, but he finished ahead of his teammate in this last season. George finished seventh in Bahrain, 5 seconds behind Hamilton in fifth.

If you like Lewis Hamilton, for sure back him. The +500 in our eyes makes Russell the better play.
