The 2023 Sony Open in Hawaii is the second of two back-to-back tournaments held in Hawaii to start the month of January. The sunnier weather in the Pacific makes for great golfing conditions, which is why this week’s event has been a mainstay on the season calendar since its inaugural run back in 1965.
A huge prize purse worth $7.9 million is at stake this week at the Waialae Country Club. The tournament saw a minor increase of $400,000 this year from the $7.5 million total payout in 2022. Although the prize money this week isn’t as extravagant as a good number of other non-major tournaments this season, golfers will still be thrilled to spend a good portion of the winter season in one of America’s best vacation spots whilst also competing for a hefty paycheck on the greens.
Here’s how the $7.9 million prize money for each of the top 10 finishers of the 2023 Sony Open in Hawaii will be distributed:
- 1st Place: $1,422,000
- 2nd Place: $853,200
- 3rd Place: $537,200
- 4th Place: $379,200
- 5th Place: $316,000
- 6th Place: $284,400
- 7th Place: $264,650
- 8th Place: $244,900
