2023 Wells Fargo Championship Sleeper Picks

By Jeff Stinger

The Wells Fargo Championship saw a significant increase in prize payout this year by nearly doubling last season’s total. That being said, the PGA TOUR’s top golfers have lined up to tee off in Charlotte this week. That also means there’s plenty of great value to be had in the upper-middle portion of the talent-rich field that we’ll have to take note of for our golf betting prospects ahead.

Nitrobetting is here to help turn your golf bets from bogeys to birdies. This time, let’s take a closer look at the three best sleeper candidates to keep tabs on at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship, as well as their corresponding odds to win the latest installment of the annual tournament held in Quail Hollow.

Rickie Fowler

  • 2023 Wells Fargo Championship Odds: +3,300

It’s been almost a decade since we’ve seen Rickie Fowler in terrific form. The three-time runner-up at the majors is having himself quite a resurgent campaign, with four top-10 finishes and eight top-17s in 13 starts this season. Half of those top-17 finishes came in succession within Fowler’s last four starts, making him a fantastic sleeper pick to finally break his winless spell on the PGA TOUR dating back to early 2019 this week in Charlotte.

Tom Kim

  • 2023 Wells Fargo Championship Odds: +4,000

One of the biggest pleasant surprises of the 2022-23 PGA TOUR season is rising South Korean Tom Kim, who regained some momentum with a decent T7 showing at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans a couple of weeks ago. Kim cracked the top 20 of the Official World Golf Rankings at the top of the year thanks to a huge win in Vegas, and now has five top-10 finishes for the season. In turn, the 20-year-old prodigy out of Seoul is yet another superb sleeper candidate to pick up his third-career PGA TOUR victory this week.

Keith Mitchell

  • 2023 Wells Fargo Championship Odds: +6,600

With a solo sixth-place finish in New Orleans, Chattanooga native Keith Mitchell now has three top fives since the start of February. Unlike the two more recognizable names before him here in this feature, Mitchell has proven his mettle on Quail Hollow recently, with a T8 finish on the course in 2019 and an even better T3 in 2021. Mitchell is also currently tops in the PGA TOUR in total driving rate, and it’s the Georgia product’s big swing that makes him a solid dark horse pick to win it all and stun the rest of the field in Quail Hollow.
