2024 Austrian Grand Prix F1 Odds, Preview, and Prediction

By Hank Blaine

Formula 1’s last Grand Prix was an eye-opener. At the Canadian GP, Max Verstappen got back on the winning track. However, Lando Norris finished second, and in a surprise, the two Mercedes drivers, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, finished third and fourth, respectively. On Sunday, Max, Lando, George, and Lewis step into their cars at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain for the 2024 Aramco Spanish Grand Prix. Verstappen is a tepid -190 favorite, followed by Norris at +400 at Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc at +800. Is Max worth backing to win his second straight? Check out F1 odds, analysis, and picks for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix.

Top Pick to Win the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix

Max Verstappen has won the last two races, but Lando Norris has been right there, finishing second in both. The reason to back Norris is that he closed the gap in the last race, the Spanish Grand Prix.

In Canada, Norris lost by close to 4 seconds. In Spain, Norris crossed the finish line 2.219 seconds behind Verstappen. If he closes the gap further, Lando can win this.

Also, Norris has a victory on the season, and the tweaks have kept the McLaren driver in the top three for most of 2024. Give Norris a big shot.

Second Pick to Win the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix

If Max Verstappen wins on Sunday, we can expect his odds to rise to around -300 or even -350 in the next race. In that sense, Verstappen might be an overlay at -200.

Even though Charles Leclerc, Lecler teammate Carlos Sainz, and Lando Norris have victories this F1 Season, Verstappen is still dominating, winning 7-of-10. So, like what has become a broken record, if you don’t mind the odds, go with Max to get it done.

Third Pick to Win the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix

Charles Leclerc’s victory at Monaco made sense. The race came over Ferrari’s track. So both Leclerc and Sainz were going to step it up.

Since Monaco, Charles bombed in Canada, finishing nineteenth. Leclerc bounced back at the Spanish Grand Prix, finishing a decent fifth. Charles and his crew should have the car in much better shape for the run in Austria. Expect a decent top three finish. Pull the trigger if you think Norris and Verstappen both underperform.

Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix

Sergio Perez finished eighth at the Spanish Grand Prix. Red Bull’s second driver isn’t benefitting as much from Adrian Newey’s genius the way Verstappen has. But that’s always been the case.

Perez is good enough, and the car is sound enough, for Sergio to bounce back and finish fourth. The odds on Sergio make him a decent play to win if you think the top three choices don’t have it this Sunday.
