How does Cooper Flagg’s injury affect Duke’s chances of winning the title?

Flagg injured himself in Duke’s 78-70 victory over Georgia Tech. The Blue Devils won the game without Flagg, which is a good sign, but they weren’t close to being as effective of a team on either side of the court.

Without Cooper, the Dookies should have problems making it to the Sweet 16, no matter their seed. Flagg might return in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. However, it’s doubtful he’s one hundred percent. Getting back to your best basketball after an ankle injury takes time. So without a one-hundred percent Cooper Flagg, the Devils are playing against to win it all.

2025 March Madness Top Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide

After two straight losses, 3 points to the Vols in Tennessee and by 5 to Florida at home, Bama was in rockstar mode versus their top rivals and the overall projected 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Auburn Tigers.

Facing the Tigers in Auburn, Bama secured a 93-91 win. The victory propelled Bama to the status they enjoyed heading into last season’s NCAA Tournament, where they ended up playing in the title game. The Tide will be ready to roll no matter if they win the SEC Tournament or not. So, at the nice 11-to-1 odds, Bama is the play to finally lift a trophy in a sport other than college football.

2025 March Madness Second Pick: St. John’s Red Storm

The thinking is that the Big East isn’t nearly as strong as it has been in past seasons. That could be true. But here’s the thing: Rick Pitino’s St. John’s squad has won 16-of-17 heading into a March 14 Big East Tournament matchup versus Marquette.

Win or lose the Big East Tournament, it won’t matter because Pitino is one of the greatest head coaches ever strategizing in the NCAA Tournament. He made Iona a tournament Cinderella for a couple of seasons and took Providence to the Final Four way back in the 1980s.

This season, Rick has the best team in the Big East, and it’s not close. Pitino’s master tournament coaching and the underrated trio of star Red Storm players RJ Luis Jr., Zuby Ejiofor, and Kadary Richmond make St. John’s a solid play to win it all at +3000.

2025 March Madness Third Pick: Houston Cougars

Like the Big East, many hoops fans didn’t feel the Big 12 was as strong this season as it was in past seasons. A closer look, though, reveals that the Big 12 has plenty of good teams, including Arizona, Texas Tech, BYU, and Iowa State.

But Houston was so fantastic in conference play that the accomplishments of those teams were overlooked. The Cougs are set for a Final Four run. Houston lost a single conference game, and it came against rising Texas Tech. Two of the other losses were to the best team in the country during the regular season, Auburn, and likely 2-seed Alabama. Both were close losses.

The other loss came against underrated San Diego State. Since losing to SDSU, Houston has gone 24-1 straight up. The Cougars are looking solid for the Final Four and are definitely a team to watch in the NCAA Tournament.

2025 March Madness Underdog Pick: BYU Cougars

Brigham Young is hot. The BYU Cougars are scorching, heading into a matchup with Houston on March 14. Win or lose, the Cougars should be on everybody’s radar once the madness starts. The reason?

BYU has won nine straight games. The Cougars didn’t just win nine games. During the streak, BYU beat Arizona, Iowa State twice, and Kansas. The win over Arizona came in Tucson, while the wins over the Cyclones came at home and on the road.

Junior Richie Saunders isn’t Cooper Flagg, but he’s close. The man averages 16.2 points, 4.3 boards, and 1.6 assists and shoots a ridiculous 51.3% from the field. Saunders drops threes at 43.5%. Considering he’s a 6’ 5” forward, Richie is a matchup nightmare for every team he faces.

BYU is a serious threat to cut down the nets. At 50-to-1 odds, the Cougs are worth a few bucks to dance to a title in the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament.
