2025 NFL Week 9 Betting Preview

By Hank Blaine

Odds are out for NFL Week 9. The games start on Thursday, Baltimore hosts Miami, but the best bets take place on Sunday, starting with the Lions hosting the Vikings in a classic NFC North battle. Then later in the day, the scorching Indianapolis Colts head to Pittsburgh to battle Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers. Then on Sunday night, Patrick Mahomes duels with Josh Allen when the Chiefs throw down against the Bills. Check out NFL odds, analysis, and picks for this week’s games.

Top 2025 NFL Week 9 Games to Bet On

Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions

Whether it’s Carson Wentz or JJ McCarthy, it won’t matter. McCarthy doesn’t have enough game experience to outduel Jared Goff. Wentz plays behind an offensive line that can’t protect him. So the Lions, even though the spread line is high, should roll to at least a 10 to 14 points win in this. Detroit covers.

2025 NFL 9 Pick: Lions

LA Chargers vs. Tennessee Titans

The Titans aren’t good enough to beat the Chargers. LAC did struggle a few weeks ago when their offensive line was in shambles. It’s amazing what happens when your talented left tackle returns to the field.

Justin Herbert will have time in this. So expect Herbert to throw at will. The Titans don’t have enough on offense to give Cam Ward a shot at keeping this close. Bolts get it done ATS.

2025 NFL 9 Pick: Chargers

Chicago Bears vs. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals’ defense imploded in the second half of the Jets’ improbable 39-38 victory over Cincinnati. Cincy had the game in control for most of it, going between a 7-point and a 14-point lead, but failed to close the door.

On Sunday, the Bears, who come off a blowout loss to the Ravens, head to town. Chicago should be the favorite based on its record, but Caleb Williams made some bad decisions against Baltimore. Joe Flacco won’t make those same bad decisions. Give the Bengals the ML edge.

2025 NFL 9 Pick: Bengals

Indianapolis Colts vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh’s issue is on the defensive side. The Steelers can’t expect Aaron Rodgers and the offense to bail out the D. It’s bad news for Pittsburgh that they allowed Tyler Kraft, Green Bay’s tight end, to have a career day against them, because the Colts’ TE, Tyler Warren, is a great player.

Oh, when it comes to Indy, you also must deal with their running back, that dude named Jonathan Taylor. The Colts continue to roll in a nice road win and cover.

2025 NFL 9 Pick: Colts

San Francisco 49ers vs. New York Giants

Without Skattebo, the Giants could struggle to find a run game. However, the 49ers head into this losers of 2 of 3. It doesn’t matter who you are in the NFL. Eventually, injuries will catch up to them, and they’ve caught up to SF, which could be without Brock Purdy and Ricky Pearsall again.

Jaxon Dart will develop a rhythm with Tyrone Tracey, who is a decent back when given a chance to play. The Niners also have issues on defense, which makes NYG an attractive ML play.

2025 NFL 9 Pick: Giants

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills

The Bills’ D finally stepped it up, but it was against Andy Dalton and the Carolina Panthers. The Chiefs, though, face their arch rivals after a short week. KC plays the Commanders on Monday night, and this is a road game.

Kansas City has been flying high, playing like the best team in the NFL. But the Bills are back on track. If the money line floats KC’s way, making them a bigger chalk, consider backing the Bills on the ML.

2025 NFL 9 Pick: Bills
