Why Bet on the Philadelphia 76ers?

The Sixers have been dominating this series since it started. In Game 2, the Eastern Conference third seed kept the hosts at a distance by the final buzzer. It wasn’t as straightforward as their first win. The Nets produced a double-digit lead up until Philadelphia took over and finished 12 points ahead of their opponents.

Doc Rivers did well to keep his team’s momentum going. They shot significantly better from the field, making 45.0% of their shots and hitting 11 of 35 looks from deep. They were also better from the line and penned an 81.3% free-throw percentage. Despite logging ten more turnovers than the Nets, the Sixers capitalized on every scoring opportunity off turnovers. Philadelphia scored 22 points off turnovers across four quarters and dominated the paint with 46 points to show for it.

Overall, the Sixers have one of the most balanced statistics leading up to the playoffs. They average 115.1 points per game on a sixth-best 48.7% shooting. Philadelphia puts up a solid defense as well. As a team, the Sixers limit opponents to 110.5 points per game on 47.3% opponent shooting. With numbers like these, we expect the unit to keep the momentum going on the road.

Why Bet on the Brooklyn Nets?

Cameron Johnson did well in his second playoff game since getting traded from the Suns. He led the team in Game 2 with 28 points on 11 of 19 from the field. But, the rest had an off-shooting night. They hit below 40% from the field and only 31.0% from deep. They were average from the line with 11 made free throws out of 17 attempts.

Although the Nets kept turnovers to single digits, they struggled against a strong rebounding team like the Sixers. They were outrebounded 33 to 56 and had only five offensive boards as opposed to their opponent’s 13. More than that, the Nets couldn’t go toe-to-toe up against the 76ers in the paint. Brooklyn closed the night with only 22 points in the paint and just 12 points off turnovers.

Brooklyn’s regular-season statistics improved towards the end of the season. They avoided the Play-In Tournament for a sixth-place finish in the Eastern Conference. As a team, the squad averages 112.9 points per game on a seventh-best 48.7% shooting. Defensively, the Atlantic Division unit holds opponents to 112.4 points per game on a fifth-best 46.3% opponent shooting percentage. These numbers have to be emphasized if they want to cut the playoff deficit down to one game.

76ers vs. Nets Betting Trends

  • The Sixers are 1-4 in the last five road playoff games (1-4 ATS).
  • 76ers won three of its last five road games versus the Nets (3-2 ATS).
  • The totals went under in two of the 76ers’ last five games at Barclays Center.
  • The Nets are 3-3 in the last six postseason games at home (2-4 ATS).
  • Brooklyn won four of its last six games at Barclays Center (2-4 ATS).
  • The totals went over in three of the Nets’ last five contests versus the Sixers.

76ers vs. Nets Game 3 Expert Betting Predictions

The Sixers controlled both ends of the floor and looked comfortable against the Nets. Brooklyn needs to put up a fight in Game 3 as they trail by two games. The question here is how much difference will the Barclays Center crowd have on this franchise? They don’t have a fan base as big as the Knicks, and that’s a cause for concern with the Knicks about to head home. Philly could have a decent crowd cheering for them in the building. Nevertheless, don’t graze over the Nets covering the spread here. The lines are reasonable, but they have to do much better to take on the Sixers straight up.
