Why Bet on the Arkansas State Red Wolves?

In week 1, Arkansas State played a much worse opponent, Grambling, then the team Ohio State played against. But we shouldn’t look past the fact the Red Wolves scored 58 points.

Starting Red Wolves quarterback James Blackmon completed 15-of-20, 75%, for 210 yards. Blackmon threw a couple of touchdown passes. Arkansas State rushed for 339 yards from 54 carries. The offense scored 8 touchdowns against Grambling. Again, Grambling is no Notre Dame, but the Red Wolves’ offense dominated.

The Red Wolves defense held Grambling to 3 total points. Grambling could get nothing going either on the ground or through the air. The road underdog rushed for 50 yards on 33 carries.

Grambling played three different quarterbacks, none of which were successful versus the strong Red Wolves defense. J. Calvez completed 1-of-10 for 6 yards and threw a pick. Q. Hawkins completed 3-of-7 for 46 yards and C. Aime went 0-for-1.

Why Bet on the Ohio State Buckeyes?

Most expected Ohio State’s offense to roll versus Notre Dame. That didn’t happen because oddsmakers and football handicappers failed to realize how good Notre Dame’s defense is this season.

What impresses about Ohio State’s offense in the win agianst the Irish is how coach Ron Day changed the strategy at halftime. In the first half, Day leaned on quarterback C.J. Stroud. In the second half, Day leaned on Ohio State’s rushing attack.

Stroud didn’t have a bad game. He completed 24-of-34 for 224 yards and threw 2 TDs. But the Buckeyes rushed for 172 yards from 35 carries. Day decided to go to the ground. It paid off with a huge win against top ten ranked Notre Dame.

While Ohio State’s defense versus Notre Dame didn’t live up to expectations, the Buckeyes’ defense versus the Fighting Irish exceeded expectations. Knowing Stroud and the offense weren’t going to be as electric as they often are, Day challenged Ohio State’s defense and the Buckeyes responded.

Ohio State held Notre Dame to 76 rushing yards from 30 carries. Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner completed 10-of-18 for 177 yards. At no point during the game did anyone believe Buchner and the Irish offense were going to win the game for Notre Dame.

Arkansas State vs. Ohio State Expert Betting Predictions

BYU hosting Baylor should be one of college football week 2’s most competitive games. BYU is a solid football team. So is Baylor. Both have a shot to secure a top bowl bid this season.

The difference between the two comes down to the point spread. This is so close that it’s difficult to see either team winning by more than 3 points, which means the hook in this game, the half a point, could be huge.

Blake Shapen doesn’t make mistakes. So Baylor will score with the Cougars. Both defenses are terrific and both head coaches, Dave Aranda for Baylor and Kalani Sitake for BYU, will make the right calls.

Because Baylor gets a half a point, the Bears are the pick. BYU can win this game, but -3.5 makes Baylor the play against the spread.
