Ajagba vs. Shaw – Turning Stone Resort and Casino, Verona, NY (ESPN)
- When: Saturday, January. 14, 2022. 10:00pm ET.
Brian Norman Jr. vs. Rodrigo Coria
The Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona also hosts a bout between up and comer Brian Norman Jr. and Rodrigo Coria. Norman Jr. is an awesome 22-0.
The -5000 chalk also has 19 stoppage victories. No doubt, Rodrigo Coria will fight hard. Coria has an okay 10-4 record.
But Rodrigo fought all of his bouts in Argentina. So Norman Jr. should have no trouble stopping Rodrigo’s night early.
Boxing Betting Pick: Brian Norman Jr. -5000
Floyd Diaz vs. Edwin Rodriguez
8-0 Floyd Diaz takes a big step-up in class on Saturday. Diaz had been fighting boxers that aren’t nearly as talented as Edwin Rodriguez.
The +300 underdog boasts an 11-6-2 record. Rodriguez has won about half his bouts, 5, via stoppage. For sure, Edwin will give Floyd all he can handle.
Diaz has been more active, though. This will be Rodriguez’s first fight since 2021. Expect the chalk to win this via unanimous decision.
Boxing Betting Pick: Floyd Diaz -400
Guido Vianello vs. Jonathan Rice
Guido Vianello has all the tools to win a title. The record is sparkling, 10-0 with a draw. It’s not just the record that makes Guido a tough fighter. Vianello has power and boxing skills. Rice is no slouch.
He’s got a 15-6 record and has knocked out 10 of his opponents. Vianello, though, has stopped 9 of his opponents.
If you believe Michael Polite Coffie, whom Rice beat in his last two, is a better fighter than Vianello, back the chalk. But if you think Guido keeps it going, back the dog. We think the odds make Vianello more than playable.
Boxing Betting Pick: Guido Vianello +104
Adam Lopez vs. Abraham Nova
Adam “Blunose” Lopez is 16-3 with 6 stoppage victories. In his last three bouts, Lopez shows a majority decision loss to Isaac Dogboe in June 2021, a no contest versus Adan Ochoa in Fall 2021, and a unanimous decision victory over William Encarnacion last May.
21-1 Abraham Nova has 15 knockout wins. He lost his last bout, but it was versus highly-regarded Robeisy Ramirez. Still, Ramirez exposed a few flaws in Abraham’s game. Lopez gets the nod.
Boxing Betting Pick: Adam Lopez -132
Efe Ajagba vs. Stephan Shaw
Shaw enters this competitive match the slight favorite. Any time a boxer is the chalk at -200, we know the bout should be close.
Stephan is 18-0 with 13 knockout wins. But Shaw is 30 and has yet to fight a boxer on Ajagba’s level. Efe has won 16 and lost just once.
The defeat came against Frank Sanchez in a 2021 bout. Ajagba bounced back from the loss with a victory over Jozsef Darmos via second round TKO last August. At the odds, the underdog is for sure worth a look.
Boxing Betting Pick: Efe Ajagba +140
