Bulls vs. Hornets 2023 NBA Odds and Preview – January 26th

By Jeff Stinger

A battle between Northwest and Southwest takes place at Smoothie King Center on Tuesday night. The Denver Nuggets hit the road for the first time in five games and recently snapped a nine-game win streak in a two-point defeat against the Thunder. Meanwhile, the Pelicans are in a bit of a rut with four consecutive losses on record. They return home after back-to-back road losses and a 3-7 record in their last ten games. This is the second meeting of the two teams with the Pelicans drawing first blood in a 121-106 victory last December.

Nitrobetting shares the latest news, NBA odds, and special features throughout the 2022-23 NBA season. Let’s get a closer look at the upcoming Nuggets vs. Pelicans face-off in this preview.

Why Bet on the Chicago Bulls?

The Bulls rank fourth in the Central Division and hold the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference. Things have been tough for Billy Donovan and company since the start of the season. But, after winning three of their last four games, it looks like the side is on an upward trend before the All-Star break.

Chicago averages 114.6 points per game on 48.8% shooting. As a team, the Bulls manage to hit 36.8% of their shots from deep and hold the fifth-best free-throw shooting record at 81.5%. They have a competent unit of shooters ready to challenge the Hornets on Thursday night, including Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic. DeRozan leads the unit with 26.23 points per game, while Lavine is not far behind with 23.74 points per game. Vuvevic holds the post with 17.45 points per game and leads the team in rebounding with 11.09 boards per game.

Defensively, the Bulls do present reasonable numbers holding teams off to 114.7 points per game and 47.3% shooting. They limit opponents to 55.3% two-point and 36.3% three-point shooting in 47 contests while recording 49.1 total rebounds per game.

Why Bet on the Charlotte Hornets?

The Southeast team currently registers a 13-36 season record. This might surprise many since the Hornets were considered one of the season’s dark horses, but we can forgive the team for underachieving due to multiple injuries. The duo of LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward await game-time decisions following ankle and hamstring injuries, respectively. If the two fail to suit up this time, Terry Rozier and Mason Plumlee are likely to fill in the scoring void.

Rozier leads the team in playing time with 35.73 minutes per game and production of 21.31 points, 4.13 rebounds, and 5.18 assists per game. He remains a pivotal player in the starting lineup and helps the Hornets average 112.0 points per game on 45.2% shooting. As a team, Charlotte records 52.1% two-point and 32.6% three-point percentages. They are also heavy scorers in the paint with 54.9 points per game.

Defensively, the Hornets limit competitors to 119.1 points per game on 48.3% opponent shooting. They are also the fifth-best rebounding team with 53.3 total boards per game and are led by Mason Plumlee, who averages 9.69 boards per game. Furthermore, the hosts average 5.0 blocks per game.

Bulls vs. Hornets Betting Trends

  • The Bulls are 2-3 in the last five road contests(3-2 ATS).
  • The Bulls are 4-1 in the last five road games versus the Hornets (3-2 ATS).
  • The totals went under in four of the Bulls’ last five road games.
  • The Hornets are 2-3 in the last five outings (2-3 ATS).
  • The Hornets are 4-4 in their last eight home games against the Bulls (5-3 ATS).
  • The totals have gone over in four of the Hornets’ last five games.

Bulls vs. Hornets Expert Betting Prediction

The Bulls are eager to rebound from their recent loss where they blew a 21-point lead. There are no excuses for this team. They should edge a Hornets team in poor form and it looks like the hosts need more time to recover moving forward. The Hornets endure tough results night after night and hardly cover the numbers. They lose at home by nearly eight points per game, which should tell us that the Bulls have a clear advantage here on paper despite coming in as the visitors.
