Dallas Mavericks 2022 Eastern Conference Finals Betting Keys
It’s been 11 years since the Dallas Mavericks reached the Western Conference Finals, and the last time around, they went all the way to win the franchise’s first-ever NBA title in 2011. Luka Doncic has been spectacular in place of Dallas’ former foreign superstar Dirk Nowitzki, as the Mavs are now faced with the daunting task of toppling the Golden State Warriors, who are back in the WCF for the sixth time in eight years.

Nothing But Good Health for Luka
As if it wasn’t clear enough, the Mavericks are officially championship contenders following their stunning 123-90 blowout victory on the road in Game 7 of their Western Conference Semifinals series against the Phoenix Suns.
What more can be said about the phenomenal Luka Doncic? The former Rookie of the Year and MVP candidate is having his best postseason stretch by far, averaging 31.1 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.9 assists through 10 starts. However, Doncic did miss the first three games of Dallas’ first-round series against the Utah Jazz. This leaves some concerns that the 23-year-old superstar could be susceptible to getting hurt again, especially given his heavy minutes after his return to the court in the playoffs.
Keep the Brunson Burner Ablaze
Outside of Doncic, the Mavs have gotten inconsistent contributions from the rest of their roster, save for one Jalen Brunson. The third-year guard is showing flashes of his title-winning experience back in his heydays in Villanova as a two-time national champion and Dallas could not be happier with the huge progress that the 25-year-old has made this season.
Brunson’s regular-season average of 16.3 points jumped up to 22.8 points per game in the playoffs and was also a huge factor in Game 6 with his 24 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field. Backup point guard Spencer Dinwiddie also broke out for 30 points in that series-clinching win over the Suns, and it’s this potent Mavericks backcourt that could actually rival Golden State’s own high-powered perimeter offense in the WCF.
Avoid Feast-or-Famine Battles
As of this writing, the Mavericks are early (+5.5) underdogs to win their Game 1 showdown against the Warriors this Wednesday. It’s worth mentioning, though, that the Mavs actually went 3-1 against the Dubs this regular season (SU/ATS) and are 9-2 over their last 11 meetings (8-3 ATS).
Dallas’ relative lack of inexperience in the playoffs is seen in their semifinal series against Phoenix, as not one game in the series was decided by fewer than seven points. In turn, the volatility of the Mavs on a game-by-game basis is worrisome going up against a battle-hardened Warriors squad that’s gone 4-0 in its last four games that were decided by four points or less; three of them coming in the postseason.
