David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant Boxing Odds, Pick and Prediction

By Jeff Stinger

There’s been a lot of bad blood boiling between interim WBC Super Middleweight champion David Benavidez and his challenger, Caleb Plant. It’s time for these two pit bulls of the boxing ring to stop with the barking and start with the biting, as we prepare for their title clash on Saturday live from Las Vegas.

Nitrobetting isn’t holding back any punches when it comes to previews for the biggest boxing matches on the calendar. This time, let’s take a closer look at the upcoming interim WBC Super Middleweight title bout between David Benavidez and Caleb Plant, along with the latest boxing odds and insights for this championship fight.

David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant Fight Information

Why Bet on David Benavidez?

In the middleweight circuit, there’s arguably no better boxer in the world right now than David Benavidez, who remains undefeated in all 26 of his career fights and with 23 of those wins being knockout victories.

The 26-year-old Phoenix native is defending the interim WBC Super Middleweight title for the first time since capturing the belt last May with a third-round TKO of David Lemieux. It’s the third time that Benavidez has won the WBC super middleweight title, only dropping the belt due to a drug suspension and other circumstances not decided inside the ring.

Benavidez may have some character issues beyond the sport, but there’s no denying that “El Bandera Roja” is as fierce a fighter as they come. He’s as quick as he is relentless on the attack, which will force Plant to withstand and plan around Benavidez’s flurry of devastating punches. Just ask the 23 previous fighters he’s faced that were taken down for the count.

Why Bet on Caleb Plant?

With a 22-1 lifetime record, Caleb Plant has a solid case as the next in line to become the WBC Super Middleweight champ. The only blemish on his record is the loss to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in November of 2021 to snap his streak of successful defenses of the IBF Super Middleweight title at three.

Being a former world champion, Plant should not be fazed by all the trash-talking and posturing by the reigning WBC titleholder. After all, “Sweethands” delivered a ninth-round, Knockout of the Year-worthy victory over Anthony Dirrell as his most recent outing and right after his crushing loss to Alvarez.

Plant’s the more methodical fighter between our two competitors in Saturday’s main event. The 30-year-old Tennessee native will have to pick his spots in countering Benavidez’s assault and hope that his endurance will outlast his opponent’s. Nine of Plant’s 22-career wins have been decided by the judge’s scorecard and with all nine of them being via unanimous decision.

David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant Expert Betting Prediction

It’s a tale of two contrasting fighting styles and we’re more inclined to side with the incumbent champion over the challenger. There’s the possibility of Benavidez gassing out trying to take down Plant, but the former should be able to connect with his swift and patented combinations to cause all sorts of problems for Plant early on. We’re calling this another knockout win for Benavidez ending in no later than that ninth round.
