SG Jaden Ivey – Purdue
Detroit needs a complementary backcourt player alongsidee Cade Cunningham, and Jaden Ivey will likely still be on the board by the time the team is on the clock at the draft. The first-team All-Big Ten selection, will immediately get a shot to show what he’s made of considering how Killian Hayes and Corey Joseph have underperformed. Ivey averaged 17.3 points per game in his second and final season in Purdue and is projected to be an NBA-ready starter from the get-go.
SG Shaedon Sharpe – Kentucky
Another interesting guard that the Pistons should consider is Canadian upstart Shaedon Sharpe, who joined the decorated Kentucky program last year without logging a single minute for the Wildcats and is still projected as a top-10 pick at this year’s NBA Draft. Sharpe made his stamp early into his basketball career after averaging over 21 points and six rebounds per game in his junior season in high school before taking home the silver medal for Team Canada at the FIBA Americas Under-16 Championship in 2019.
G/F AJ Griffin – Duke
There have been several rumors creeping up about Detroit trading rising forward Jerami Grant to the Blazers leading up to the draft. In turn, the Pistons should consider adding a flex forward like AJ Griffinout of Duke. Griffin, who was one of the standouts in Mike Krzyzewski’s final season at the helm of the Blue Devils’ program, can serve both as a replacement for the possible departure of Grant whilst also being a solid backcourt option as well if the Pistons choose to forego Ivey or Sharpe with the fifth-overall pick and go for the higher upside that the 6-foot-6 Griffin is packing.
