Why Bet on the Miami Dolphins?

Watch out; the Miami Dolphins are suddenly winners of two straight games with none bigger than their 22-10 upset of the Baltimore Ravens last Thursday night. It was another stellar defensive performance for Miami, which improved to 3-7 and just 3.5 games behind for the AFC East division lead.

The Dolphins’ defense has hunkered down to amazing results over their last two wins. They held AFC North leader Baltimore and another disappointing team in Houston to an average of just 9.5 points per game after being considered as having one of the worst defenses in the league. Miami’s D forced two Baltimore turnovers, sacked superstar Lamar Jackson four times, and held the former MVP to just 39 rushing yards on nine carries.

Facing a fallen Jets team in Week 11 indicates that the Fins are on track for their first three-game win streak of the season to stay alive in the playoff race. It’s up to young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to put on another gritty performance under center. Tagovailoa overcame a finger injury and led his team to the win, stepping in during the second half and completing eight of 13 passes for 158 yards and running in for a game-clinching touchdown in the final minutes of the contest.

Why Bet on the New York Jets?

Heading in the opposite direction in the AFC East standings, meanwhile, are the New York Jets, who have lost two straight games following their spirited win over the Bengals in Week 8. The Jets faced the wrath of a wounded Buffalo Bills team that shellacked them last Sunday, 45-17.

Backup QB Mike White, who was the hero during the aforementioned win over Cincinnati, was simply a sitting duck against Buffalo’s stout defense. White finished with 251 passing yards and a whopping four interceptions, as his starting job could be in danger with veteran Joe Flacco (3-for-3, 45 passing yards, and a garbage TD) looked better under center in relief of the youngster.

Regardless of who’s calling the shots on offense, the Jets’ defense has got to step up once more. They’ve allowed 45 points to the Colts in Bills in quick succession, which even a mediocre Miami offense can exploit if their bottom-ranked D remains a total sieve.

Dolphins vs. Jets Betting Trends

  • The Dolphins have lost four consecutive road games (1-2-1 ATS).
  • The Fins are 6-1 in the last seven meetings against the Jets (6-0-1 ATS).
  • The totals went under in five of those seven games against New York.
  • The Jets are 3-2 over the last five home games (SU/ATS).
  • The Jets are 2-8 in the last 10 games as underdogs (SU/ATS).
  • The totals went over in each of New York’s last three homestands.

Dolphins vs. Jets Expert Betting Predictions

All signs point to another huge win for Miami with how the team is suddenly on the upswing. However, it’s also worth noting that both of the Jets’ two wins this entire season were in MetLife Stadium, leaving open a window for the Jets to pull off another upset in front of their playoff-starved fanbase against a division rival that’s been just as disappointing as they are this season as a whole.
