Donte DiVincenzo NBA Futures Odds and Warriors Outlook

By Carlos Chacon

The 2022 NBA offseason started with a bang as soon as the player market opened. After an incredible season by the Golden State Warriors, the franchise went right to work and prepared to beef up its player lineup with the addition of Donte DiVincenzo. While many were disappointed with the departure of two key players, the Dubs are likely to bring in more firepower as the 2022-23 season approaches?

How do the Warriors’ odds look after Donte DiVincenzo’s acquisition?

After losing crucial pieces such as Otto Porter Jr. and Gary Payton II to free agency, the Dubs managed to sign former Milwaukee Bucks guard Donte DiVincenzo to a two-year, USD 9.3-million deal.

It’s been a wild ride for the man from Delaware after winning a title with the Bucks in 2021. He was traded to the Sacramento Kings in March, despite being injured for a better part of the postseason. Sacramento decided to turn down his qualifying offer which winded him up to the open market.

The 25-year-old produced solid numbers in his last 42 games played. He averaged 9.0 points, four rebounds, and 2.8 assists while hitting 34% of his shots from deep. Towards the end of his stint in Sacramento, Donte ramped up his numbers from the three-point line and logged a 37% three-point shooting average.

Since joining the NBA as a first-round pick in 2018, we’ve seen him showcase his potential from deep. His defensive potential also works well for a Warriors system that demands two-way players. While his presence might not make it to the starting five of the Warriors, we expect him to play off the bench and serve as a critical piece for the defending champions.

So where does this leave the Warriors? Seeing that the core team remains intact, the franchise remains among the top favorites to win the 2023 NBA Championship. Re-signing free-agent center Kevon Looney and the addition of Donte DiVincenzo keep their NBA futures odds of winning another championship strong.

The roster changes for the Warriors start with this acquisition. Following the departure of two key players, the Warriors front office with Steve Kerr’s assistance looks to sign more players who can fill in for Porter Jr. and GP2.
