PSG may have won the previous title, but they’re not stopping there. The club has been, by far, the most active in the transfer window this summer. While Argentinian legend and recent World Cup winner Lionel Messi left for MLS, five players were added to fortify the lineup. Christophe Galtier is also out as head coach after just a season with PSG.
Spanish manager Luis Enrique takes over for him in the upcoming campaign. Top-rank defender Milan Skrinar joined the team from Inter Milan and Spanish winger Marco Asensio made the move from Real Madrid. Enrique can pair the Slovak with Lucas Hernandez in the final third, who just joined the club from Bayern Munich.
Many 2023-24 Ligue 1 betting predictions have PSG as their top pick. However, it’s also worth noting that the contenders are not far behind.
RC Lens and Marseille filled the two other positions in Ligue 1’s top three in 2022-23. Lens was the biggest threat to PSG and finished just a point behind. They remain in the top three favorites and imply that the club could be one of the biggest threats to the Paris-based club this season. Most of their success relies on their key players. Seko Fofana, Lois Openda, and Kevin Danso gained attention in the transfer market and are wanted by top clubs in Europe.
Fofana was a key target for Al-Nassr before signing Marcelo Brozovic. With over two months left in the transfer window, variables can change and Lens have already brought in a few names to improve their lineup. They wasted no time in bagging midfielder Andy Diouf from FC Basel. Franck Haise joins from Morgan Guilavogui, while Neil Aynaoui, Angelo Fulgini, and Stijn Spierings hope to add more depth.
Marseille finished third in the Ligue 1 standings last season and looks forward to another Champions League appearance. But, their domestic hopes are still on the top priority list as they haven’t won the title in over a decade.
Meanwhile, Monaco missed out on the UEFA Champions League following a late-season collapse. The Monegasques lost their final three Ligue 1 matches and finished sixth. Now, they enter the 2023–24 odds table tied with RC Lens at third. The club’s new coach, Austrian Adi Hutter, hopes to inherit an imposing attack with players like Breel Embolo and Wissam Ben Yedder.
