2023 NASCAR Cup Playoff Recap

Heading into the final showdown at Phoenix Raceway, Kyle Larson was a solid +125 chalk to get it done. But Ryan Blaney got the jump on Kyle and finished second behind race winner Ross Chastain.

Larson finished third at Phoenix followed by teammate William Byron in fourth. Christopher Bell, the remaining NASCAR Final Four participant, finished a disappointing thirty-sixth after suffering an accident. Check out the final NASCAR Cup Playoff points standings for this year’s top four.

  • Ryan Blaney – 5035
  • Kyle Larson – 5034
  • William Byron – 5033
  • Christopher Bell – 5001

Top Pick to Win the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series

William Byron got oh so close to notching a Cup victory. William finished fourth and lost 2 points to Ryan Blaney in the final race in Phoenix.

2 points isn’t a lot to make up. It’s more important, though, to think about William’s entire season. He won 6 races and 4 poles. Byron also finished in the Top 5 a total of 15 times and finished in the Top 10 a total of 21 times.

More often than not, Byron was right there with a shot to win the race in the final fifteen laps. That’s all you can ask. William is going to rev it up next season and is a viable pick to beat out teammate Larson for the Cup.

Second Pick to Win the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series

If not for the accident, who knows what might have transpired in Phoenix? Christopher Bell has quickly become one of Joe Gibbs’s top drivers. Bell rallied to make the playoffs and then he rallied to make it to the final four showdown.

This season, Bell won just 2 races, but he grabbed 6 poles. Overall, Bell finished well in most events, scoring 19 top ten finishes. He can for sure improve in the NASCAR Playoff next season and should be a lock to again make the Round of 16.

Third Pick to Win the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series

Kyle Larson doesn’t concentrate on winning races as much as he concentrates on getting into the top 5 enough to make the playoffs, which explains why 2-of-4 Larson victories came at Darlington and Las Vegas and during the playoffs.

Kyle finished third at Phoenix. Oddsmakers and NASCAR bettors were all over Larson. But he posted underlay odds to win the NASCAR Playoff and is likely to be an underlay once the playoffs start again next season if even makes the 2024 NASCAR Playoff.

Fourth Pick to Win the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series

Many believed it was Denny’s time to shine in 2023. However, like what he’s done every timehe’s made it to the playoffs, Hamlin didn’t have a great run.

2024 could be the same old story for the greatest NASCAR driver to never win a Cup. However, this season, Denny makes it to the Final Four. So he will have a shot to notch a Cup win at Phoenix.

Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series

Busch performed great in his first season driving for Richard Childress. The former Joe Gibbs driver made the Round of 16 but failed to make the Round of 12, finishing fourteenth on the standings.

Kyle won 3 races, scored a pole victory, and finished with 17 Top 10’s. Busch could improve on all those stats in 2024. If he does, he may enter Phoenix in the Top Four and ready to score another Cup victory.
