Top Pick to Win the 2026 World Series
The Seattle Mariners got oh so close to making it to their first World Series. The key for Seattle heading into the offseason is to maintain their current rotation, especially Luis Castillo and Brandon Woo.
If everyone else stays, there’s no reason to believe Seattle won’t be as much of a force in the AL as they were in 2025. Cal Raleigh is the best catcher in baseball right now, and the rest of the lineup is solid. Also, there are no world beaters in the American League, no Dodgers, so it may be Seattle’s turn.
Second Pick to Win the 2026 World Series
Looking back on the 2025 playoffs, with the exception of the Jays, the team that gave the Dodgers the most fits was the Philadelphia Phillies. Bryce Harper didn’t play to his usual standard, and the Phils lost the series to the Dodgers due to a pitcher’s error.
If those two things had reversed, who knows? Philadelphia’s rotation remains dynamite while the bats are solid. The Phillies are a legit contender to win it all.
Third Pick to Win the 2026 World Series
The Chicago Cubs, which made the postseason as a wild card in 2025, offers overlay odds to win the title. The Cubs have a rising star pitcher in 24-year-old Cade Horton and one of the top young players in the league in center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong.
Crow-Armstrong must improve upon his .247 average in 2026, and someone has to pick up the slack when Horton can’t take the mound. But if those two things happen, the Cubbies could overtake the Brewers in the NL Central and make it to their second straight postseason. Then, it will be about winning in the playoffs.
What About the LA Dodgers?
The Dodgers have every right to be the favorites to win a third straight World Series. LAD has all the tools to win it again, including the best pitcher in baseball right now in Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the best all-around player in the league in Shohei Ohtani.
But let’s take a breath before backing LAD at the underlay, the horribly underlaid, +350 odds. The Jays had the Dodgers on the ropes. It took magic from Will Smith and Yamamoto to pitch a couple of innings after throwing 95 balls the day before for the Dodgers to beat Toronto. So at +350, it’s asking a lot for this team to win a third straight World Series, which almost never happens. If the odds rise, LAD is worth taking a look at, but for now, they’re a play against.
